  • Dinner at home with some neighbors, Valerie made a skillet chicken parm and gnocchi...thought this would pair nicely. Last bottle from this purchase. Decanted an hour before drinking

Dark garnet/purple color, some signs of age. Nose on this one had slight taint that dissipated. Dark fruits, cedar, herbs. Palate of plums, black berry, raisins, black tea, floral notes. Nicely textured, tannins resolved and smooth. Full body, medium finish.

Wine has aged nicely. Has settled down, its lost some of the bright fruit quality of its youth...as expected. In a good spot, well stored bottles should have a way to go but I dont think it improves much from here. A nice Amarone, I paid <$50 so also a good value. Would drink over next 3-5 years.

  • Took this to Giuseppe's in Lambertville. Last bottle tasted of this vintage tasted in '17. Splash decanted, drank over an hour.

Prior notes:"Purple magenta color, great nose right out of the bottle. Dark fruits, burnt sugar, herbs. Rich Amarone palate of plums, black fruit, raisins, blackberry liqueur, black tea. Long finish.."

Wine has evolved quite a bit. Dark garnet,/purple color, starting to show some thinning at the edges. Blackberry , plums, earth most notable here. Tannins have softened. Full body, long finish. In a good spot now, would drink over next 3-5 years.

  • Dark garnet. Aromas of dark plum, mahogany, coffee, allspice, pages from an old book, and dried roses. Deep rich penetrating dark plum fruit on the palate, deeply but smoothly tannic, full bodied, light to medium acids. Very long finish.

  • Fascinating wine. Prunes, raisins, coffee, black tea, tar and tobacco. Interestingly, the nose was a bit muted, but the pallet was a cornucopia of flavors. (I don't think I have ever listed so many flavors we detected for a wine.)

This will be a wine I remember. I really enjoyed the experience, but honestly, I am still trying to work out in my head if I *liked* the wine. Regardless a really interesting set of flavors, and we certainly furthered our exploration of wine.
