  Earthy nose. Started out with a hint of vanilla, but generally flat and closed. Opened up over an hour or two of dinner to a slightly broader palate with still large tannins. The pinot flavor is definitely subdued and in the background on this one.

  Dark garnet red. Nose of earth and buried nuts. A bit hard and tannic, not a tremendous amount of fun at first, but it softened a bit over time and started showing a nice bitter chocolate palate. Still, the restrained fruit and hard edges, subtracted from the pleasure for me.
