  • Tasted in single-blind fashion from a well-cellared bottle, this 21-year-old wine still retains a nice core of raspberry and red plum fruit, accented with cocoa, cola and leather. Medium-bodied and nicely vibrant, it has good mid-palate density, soft oak, melted tannins and seamless alcohol (listed as 14.1%). Finishing medium-to-long, this was easily identifiable as a top quality Central Coast Pinot, although I must admit that I was surprised by its age. Bottles that have been pristinely cellared should have 3-4 more years of life. Drink now-2023.

  • You can tell that this was high quality and it is still enjoyable but definitely on the decline. Slightly oxidized and muted.

  • Opened not decanted. Nose of licorice and spice; sweet notes of dried cranberries and cherries; fruit has started to fade with lean touches on the spicy and dry finish. Reminds me of an older Barolo, but juicier. Good.

  • I opened a bottle of this wine this evening while at the restaurant just to "pass the time" what a wonderful bottle. It's medium bodied and hitting a wonderful stride for being about 9 years old now. With a beautiful nose of bing cherrys and a little bit of fresh tilled earth it opens to a wonderfully smooth yet spicy pinot with a bit of acidity on the mid palate. A wonderful wine

  • Decanted off sediment and poured. Clear garnet/ruby robe, a touch of burnt orange, pulling away from the rim. A nose of cloves, apple skins, and pinot funk on opening bloomed into cherry, white flowers and cedar. In the mouth, clove, cinnamon, and raspberries, then with time, stunning sweetly ripe fruit, with bracing acidity and a silky texture. With more time in the glass it is more layered and delicious, not showing a hint of its 14.1% alc. I've only had one other Pinot from the Pisoni vineyard, and that younger and more primary than this, but, this seems to share a commonality with that wine. Only a bit of bitterness in the back palate and aftertaste keep this from being extraordinary.
