Fully expected this bottle to be past peak and over oxidized. On the contrary, it was wonderful. Drank it side by side with the 2013 Lewis Cellars reserve (among my favorite wines) and may just have it enjoyed it more. I couldn't believe how much fruit was still there. Tannins were mostly gone as expected, but there were plenty of black fruit flavors along with some earthy, leathery notes. all in all, I really enjoyed it.

I think this one's in decline . . It was respectable but a little dried out and not the wow-wine I'm used to with Lewis. Decanted and tasted over a 5 hour period.

Decanted for 6 hours and man did this wine need more time. Tremendous blackberry fruit on the nose. Immediate flavors are dark chocolate, earl grey tea and a lingering spice quickly covered by the tannins. The finish is long and I think this wine could go another 10 years.

While I have no formal notes, this was a lovely wine that everyone enjoyed. Even at 20+ years, Randy Lewis' wines need to be decanted.
