  • Perfumed nose of cranberry, strawberry, orange peel, and baking spice. Palate of juicy fresh strawberry and raspberry, cut by tart, citrusy acidity. Very long finish. A joy to drink, and far better than the recent CT reviews would suggest.

  • 2002-2005 Rosella's Vineyard Pinot Noirs (Bi-weekly group blind tasting at Tom's House): Blindtasted 9 Rosella's Vineyard Pinots, My #9, The group's #9.
Must have been flawed, I hated the nose, the flavor was stewed yucky rotten fruit.

  • PnP. Pours a thin light crimson to clear at the edges. All good in the nose, with aromatics of oak, humid drenched cherries, dill weed. I get what others have said with regards to carbonation and tartness...there is a bit of fizziness and some shrill sour high notes. Sour cherry predominates, with tart puckering cranberry and currant. A peculiar and odd flavor profile unbalanced to the acidic side. I will update and revise with day two notes as previous tasters have indicated a transformation will occur... Day two + does show a bit better...the fizziness has dissapated, and this has fleshed out a bit. There's still a bit of tartness - my belief is a bit of brett influences this experience. After 7+ days under vac-u-vin, this has turned sharply acrid and resembles brett induced barf broth. Relabel as a 7 year old sour beer and it will be all the rage.

  • PnP. Garnet with some orange rim. Tart cherries on the nose without much else. On the palate the first night this was sappy to the point of being fizzy. Having not ecountered this with a Siduri Rosella's, I opened a second bottle which was identical. This had a zippy, tart acidity that seemed to render the fruit to simple cherries and a bit of strawberry. On the second night this was mostly redeemed. The sappy fiz was gone and the fruit had fleshed out. Also the nose came alive with musty earth, pine, licorice and a touch of mocha to go with the improved darker cherry/strawberry fruit. This needs a strong decanting, but even with that it will not rival the '02 or '03 versions.
