Decanted for 3 hours prior to drinking. Very house style as expected. Dark red and black fruits, jammy, stewed, over extracted, a little hot and heavy. Full bodied and densely weighted, solid medium + finish. Whilst holding up, in its window now, it won’t improve. Drink over the next 18 months.

Opaque inky rosewood color. Brooding nose of currants, brambles, ink, stone, a sweet topnote, and Barossa Valley's trademark green stemmy aroma. The palate is much more sedate, being texturally very lithe, a little woodsy at midpalate with some jammy fruit, and a bit of tart blackberry on the finish. I enjoyed this way more at the Cellar Door, though in retrospect I believe the scenery may have been working its magic on me (also, it was probably my 25th glass of the day). Thinking more clearly, this is not the greatest Torbreck wine I've ever had, though the competition in that category is stiff. Drinking well enough now, and for another 3-5 years.

Tasted at the Cellar Door, this was the standout of the wines on display there. Deep, inky black color. Pure smoky, spicy nose, with a palate packed full of fruit, leather, tar, and too many other flavors to name. Hot and tannic at current but promises to reveal more of its charms with a decade of cellaring.

Pure Barossa on the nose! Elegant and full-hodied.
