We thought this rather medicinal today, pruney fruits and a lot of sweet stewed plums, dense but also rather one dimensional. When revealed as Runrig I was floored as I usually love them, but something's not working out today for this bottle, it lacked the freshness to carry all that heavy cloying fruits. For me, this probably would have been better drunk 5 years back.

Just passing its stride after almost 21 years of cellaring. Opaque garnet color, showing surprisingly little bricking given its age.
Nose is still very nice...dried red & black fruits - cherry liqueur, dried figs, blackcurrant compote, hints of bramble and earth. As it opens, more secondary and tertiary notes...espresso roast, cigar box, salted caramel, dried herbs.
Full-bodied and richly textured with a plush, velour-like mouthfeel. Macerated blackberry, Bing cherry and layers of mocha and spice cake. Concentrated and thick.
Tannins have softened. Silky structure. Still tannic grip...quite long finish; notes of roasted coffee, dark chocolate shavings and a hint of black licorice.
Rich and concentrated but avoids excess, with lovely complexity and nice balance. A very nice example of aged Barossa Shiraz, of which I am not typically a fan.

certainly not a shrinking violet this, a big wine loaded with dark flavours - and alcohol - and maybe starting to develop a stewed edge to it as it heads towards the end of its life

Member contribution. First time having this wine and it was not the best showing. Obviously a generous contribution to the night but my first thought this might be well past it's peak. Very port like with stewed plums and a bit of petrol.
Almost undrinkable as time passed.
