In very good condition. Elegant, medium bodied. Quite tertiary. Acidity and fruit still there though. Doesn’t taste like a 48 year old wine. Has probably lost some character but still a lovely wine.
One of the greatest Cabs of the decade in my experience. While many of this vintage were a bit light and thin s few such as Caymus and come of the Phelps were my favorites for long term aging. This $7 Cabernet at 41 years old was amazing. Tobacco and cab fruit overlay a firm core of fruit, tannin and the necessary acidity to allow this to develop into an impressive wine. Seductive nose that kept changing and inviting you back for more. On the palate the flavor was complex long and assertive. In the glass the nose and palate continued to develop for about an hour in big Riedel glasses before they started to fade. About 15 minutes decanting before serving.

Classic 70's Cali Cab. Really nice wine, well preserved, dark fruit on palate, shockingly preserved for a Cali Cab. I agree with prior note, not going to go past 2020. If you have any, drink now. I would recommend putting bottle upright for 2 weeks, decant with flashlight or candle and drink after the one hour decant.

Lightly bricking very dark red violet color; maturing, tart plum, black currant, light menthol nose; silky textured, classic, rich, ripe black currant, tart blackberry palate with years to go yet; long finish (13% alcohol)
