Once again, our host out did himself pairing a 7-course meal with an all Sauternes tasting. Covering 50 years from a '55 d'Yquem in shockingly great shape to a pair of '05s, this '01 Rabaud-Promis was my contribution.
All wines showed well, this was probably liked more by others than myself as I felt it was lacking just a bit of acid. Nonetheless it was still in excellent shape. Honeysuckle, pineapple, nutmeg some of that traditional crème brûlée all showed nicely. Not overly viscous or heavy I just wanted a slight bit more acid.
Given how some of its tablemates from the 80s and 90s showed I don't see how this couldn't be appreciated for decades to come.

Beautiful golden color, cork and capsule in good shape. Honeysuckle, vanilla, and almond, with slight shellac in the nose. Full mouth feel with honey, lemon curd, figs on palate. Long finish.

16th and 17th of 24 halves, pnp, perfect corks and levels, darker gold but otherwise as last noted (1/20 and 9/19), very round and unctuous with just enough balancing citrus, little upside but no rush. F+ (18).

Fabulous All Sauternes Tasting Dinner: Part Trois (Brad's Place, St. Paul, MN): Medium gold color. Drank a glass over 2 hours. Toasted brown sugar, burnt orange creme brulee, ginger, liqueured orange peel, honey pot, apricot, baked spiced apples, syrupy with less acid driving this.
