  Complex baked fruit with asian spice notes complicating the finish. Perfect now, but will hold.

  Very rich fruit, oak and cedar flavors, as well as black pepper herbs, such as rosemary. Long finish.

  There’s WAY more American oak quality left in this wine than there is fruit. Wish I had tried this wine sooner, but maybe it’s just in an awkward stage. The palate has plenty of structure to take this wine another 5-7 years, so I’m hoping the oak will mellow out with time to give some space for other nuances to show through.
  
  Quality wise, I would give this wine a 92+, the palate is luscious and well balanced. But the nose is just so overpowered with American oak that it’s hard to take this wine seriously since it’s so monolithic. I will refrain from rating this time as a result. Next time, I will give this bottle a serious decant and see whether it comes together with more balance.
