  • Opened and poured without decant.

There are immediate aromas of blackberry fruit, cedar wood. and currant. In mouth the wine is black cherry at the start with vegetable notes immediately following. I get anise, bell pepper and tobacco leaf. The finish is more watery in mouthfeel than I would have expected. Nonetheless lovely balance and mouthfeel.

  • Ruby red in color. Lots of fruit and some violet on the nose. Really forward and full of fruit on the palate. Notes of cherry, cassis and currant. Very youthful and lots of life left in this predecessor to what is now Cliff Lede Vineyards. Opened, aerated and decanted this almost 5 hours before serving. Held up beautifully and consistently throughout the evening.

  • From 3L, decanted for two hours the day before consuming and then an additional two hours prior to our dinner (did this because of prior note from 11/09 - thanks for that) . The big boy showed well; medium finish, earthy, cedar box, and chocolate on the finish. Paired very well with rib roast - this was my last bottle, thankfully Cliff Lede continues the excellent quality.

  • Our host smartly chose to decant this for a very long time and it paid off. By the time dinner came, it had certainly hit its stride. Nose of black currant, anise, tobacco and the right bit of funk. In the mouth, very dark and only slightly subdued fruit - plum and black cherry and nearly chocolaty-sweet tannins, nice long finish with a hint of menthol at the very end. The relative dryness, mouthweight and funk conjured Margaux to the point both the host and I mentioned it simultaneously, but it was a bit more generous in the fruit and that minty finishing note was textbook high-end New World.

  • Not aging as well as hoped but still very good - I should have decanted longer than an hour. Very balanced - elegant and "Bordeaux like". Very smooth, medium finish and tannins are well integrated. Earthy
