A pleasant surprise. Showing no signs of age, solid cork, minimal sediment. Layered flavors, noticeable fruit essence, tannins resolved, long finish. Enjoyed with Beef Tips & Broccoli at Park House Eater in San Diego. Perfect accompaniment for the meal. This is one I wish I had more of. I don't recall buying it. Obviously benefited from perfect storage. Drink up, it's smack dab in the middle of its drinking window but it'll last another 5 years.

The fruit is a bit subdued in this aged twenty-one year old as it gives way to non-fruit tones of leather and notes of cedar. This remains firm, complex and full bodied with tightly wound tannins but still clings to its blackberry and plum fruits with lingering cherry and hints of mocha, cassis and cedar on the tangy spicy finish. The large format magnum suppresses the impact of aging and lengthens its aging potential.
Dark garnet coloured, earthiness bleeds off to reveal black cherry, ripe black raspberry and cassis with a hint of mocha blackberry and smoke on the finish. Notably still holding on with no diminution of aging.
