17% EtOH, wow, is that even legal in a table wine? This is full throttled and not for the faint of heart. Weirdly different than the ‘05 of the same bottling from years past, this is about as subtle and nuanced as an atom bomb. Booming nose of override black cherry, kirsch, cough syrup, menthol, saddle leather, wet dog, and pine cones. Huge feel in the mouth and really tasting hot and unbalanced. Sort of a meal of a wine that might be best consumed like a port. While it worked on a cold Xmas eve in general, it was not a good match for the spicy tomatoey seafood pasta which it blew away despite the strong flavors in the dish. A specialty wine for sure.

Idiosyncratic. Decanted. Med (-) ruby with a garnet hue. Med (+) to pronounced aromas of macerated strawberries, maraschino cherries, Mediterranean herbs, cedar, carob pods, baking spices. Dry but with overripe fruit and some RS with a balsamic finish. Med (-) acidity, med tannins and high alcohol (17%). Not sure how you can get that much abv and still have some RS. Med (+) flavor intensity and length. Drink now, not likely to improve with further aging. Pair with aged cheeses. "

For sure interesting, but not sure I really dig it. Pale in colour with almost an orange tinge on the rim. Nose is pretty expressive, a little sweet, more strawberry than raspberry, although there is a hint of raspberry and cherry. High toned like a pinot, but with more power and a medicinal brush note as well. Palate is medium bodied, again a little sweet initially, but nice soft raspberry and strawberry fruit, very red fruited with just a hint of complexity. Nice long finish though. This was an interesting wine, but seemed a little out of whack (too much power).
