Sauternes Chinese Banquet Dinner: Half bottle. Tasted blind. Full yellow. Lots of botrytis and sweet stone fruit. Some secondary perfume. Quite sweet and liquoreux with vanilla and spice. Rich but reasonably well balanced. Very good Sauternes look alike.

All Sauternes, All Night (R & G Lounge, SF): Drank as part of a blockbuster Sauternes night - my blind ringer. A bit ungiving aromatically. Light in color and body, softly sweet, with apricot, barley sugar, grapefruit peel. A bit on the simpler side, but very tasty.

Last night we hosted our annual Halloween dinner party (no costumes we are all getting too old for that) and after 2 bottles of Meursault, 1/2 of a bottle of chardonnay, a half bottle of cabernet, a magnum of an excellent Hermitage. The group wanted dessert wine to go with my wife's incredible, almost legendary, cheese cake. So I opened this bottle (I love my friends dearly but at this point I was not going to waste a bottle d'yquem on them) the color is deep yellow, almost golden. The nose is over ripe orchard fruit with hints of honey. The palate was apricot, guava, peach and honey. The finish was moderate to long and left a nice feel in the mouth. A very enjoyable wine. And yes everyone ubered home. No driving allowed at my dinner parties.

All-sauternes dinner; 12/2/2023-12/3/2023 (R&G Lounge, San Francisco): Tasted blind. Orange marmalade, balanced, not overly alcoholic, simple on the finish but very nice! Probably one of the better examples of a botrytized wine outside of sauternes. 88

Quite dense and oily. A little cloying, needs some acid to go with the pleasant honey and stone fruit.
