While many of this vintage were a bit light and thin s few such as Caymus and come of the Phelps were my favorites for long term aging. This $7 Cabernet at 41 years old was amazing. Tobacco and cab fruit overlay a firm core of fruit, tannin and the necessary acidity to allow this to develop into an impressive wine. Seductive nose that kept changing and inviting you back for more. On the palate the flavor was complex long and assertive. In the glass the nose and palate continued to develop for about an hour in big Riedel glasses before they started to fade. About 15 minutes decanting before serving.
