Monday, April 29, 2024 - Sixth bottle from a full case purchased from a reputable UK merchant in 2011. Not decanted, opened five hours in advance. On cracking form. Completely open and engaging, deep and complex nose, spicy and lifted (70% stems), reminiscent of the Ahr (Walporzheimer Kräuterberg), hints of forest floor and sweet oak (100% new), ripe and elegant palate with gentle but firm tannic grip, harmonious and energetic, good weight of fruit, long and complete, finishes just a bit dry. Stunning quality for a 2007, well on its plateau of maturity, another decade in it at least.
