Thursday, December 10, 2009 - Ruby red, very little/no orange edge; @ 30 min very nice complex nose of bitter choc/mint with ripe red cherry bon bon like aroma- at 90 min much stronger minty nose although not the eucalyptus/mint of Heitz Martha's; Very fresh black cherry. black plum and date-like flavor with under tones of bitter choc. and bark-like herb flavors, major ripe blackberry fruit flavors with undertones of wet earth/mushroom at the end; very smooth integrated nose/mouth feel/ finishing flavors.
amazing wine from a very under appreciated vintage-- ridge Monte Bello, Mondavi Resv, Caymus, Montelena all also exceed expectations for that drought yr.
