Saturday, February 20, 2010 - I can understand why this is such a crowd-pleaser - when you bring this kind of wine to a dinner party, it's going to stand out from everyone else's oak monsters, because it really is a well-done version of that brawny, luscious merlot style. Really really hot nose, with alluring dark chocolate mocha on the nose. The heat combined with the spice brought to mind the way your hands smell when you cut fresh jalapeno or serrano peppers. Dark fruit overruns the palate, and the finish reminded me of port. It's really not that out of control, I think the alcohol just turned me off. 88, +1 as a good conversation piece.
