Sunday, June 28, 2015 - My first bottle from Rhys and my high expectations were exceeded. Very pretty nose of red fruit, earth and light spices. Medium bodied and exceptionally well balanced. There's a lot of fruit here, but there's also plenty of background structure and acidity which keeps this solidly OUT of the fruit-forward camp and places it in the elegant and balanced camp. Red cherry and wildberry upfront with just a touch of sour cherry behind along with raspberry and plum towards the finish. Good mineral qualities and acidity on the finish. This wine is just starting to come into its own and I expect further complexity and refinement in the future.
