Saturday, October 28, 2023 - Last night we hosted our annual Halloween dinner party (no costumes we are all getting too old for that) and after 2 bottles of Meursault, 1/2 of a bottle of chardonnay, a half bottle of cabernet, a magnum of an excellent Hermitage. The group wanted dessert wine to go with my wife's incredible, almost legendary, cheese cake. So I opened this bottle (I love my friends dearly but at this point I was not going to waste a bottle d'yquem on them) the color is deep yellow, almost golden. The nose is over ripe orchard fruit with hints of honey. The palate was apricot, guava, peach and honey. The finish was moderate to long and left a nice feel in the mouth. A very enjoyable wine. And yes everyone ubered home. No driving allowed at my dinner parties.
