Saturday, December 11, 2021 - One of the more interesting failures I've drunk recently, to be honest. The best Rocks syrah I've had tends towards more of a Northern Rhône model, but this was seemingly designed to be more like a humongous Aussie shiraz - high alcohol, high extract, lots of oak, more more more. It's an intensely tiring, punishingly huge wine that tastes of nowhere in particular. That said, the quality is fine - it's not _bad_ bad, it's just unnecessary, unconvincing, and overall kind of a bummer.
