Tuesday, July 2, 2019 - Changing a bike tire is a pain in the ass. The finger wrestling of odd little tools, getting grease all over your hands. Sweat coming from places they don't usually from your face. Frustrating, but in the end, when its done, you come to peace with it enough to actually enjoy the experience.

This wine is somewhat like that. Nothing likable whatsoever at the start. This wine took a full 3 days to uncoil, completely closed. It might as well have been wine soaked in a can of nuts and bolts. How they achieved this in such a generous year is beyond me.

Day 3: Textbook Pauillac.. everything you want to see and smell, the pencil shavings are sublime, the thyme and tarragon are well represented on the nose and finally we get a smattering of black cherry fruit. Finally something I can drink!

Overall this wine has failed this vintage horribly, all the other Pauillac producers had much lighter colored wines, soft, delicate, letting the vintage shine. What troll left this wine on the skins so long? What were they hiding? Who fell asleep at the wheel.

The wine is correct but what a pity they couldn't take more care. The fruit may not outlast the tannins. HOLD, check back in 2025. Lets see.
