Tuesday, April 16, 2024 - Sweet blackberries and raspberries, aniseed and a slightly bloody, mineral iron ore character I usually associate with Heathcote. Hints of umami, that fungal forest floor note, a bit Pinot-esque.
Unmistakable Australian ripeness but the mineral and fungal notes do give it a Rhone-ish quality. Powdery tannins that build, I didn't notice them for a few sips.
Given the tertiary notes that have emerged I reckon this is now in its peak window. Lots of fruit though so I think it'll be on the plateau for a lot of years yet.
