Thursday, July 20, 2023 - Pale ruby. Compared to Southing, this seems fresher, brighter and more energetic. On the nose it offers aromas of fresh red raspberry and red cherry which serve as a counterpoint to the deeper, riper notes of raisined blackberries, crème de cerise, damp earth and oak spice. On the palate this is medium to full bodied, more compact and almost lithe compared to Southing, with relatively bright acidity that frames dried black fruit and oak flavors. This is not a wine for me, but I think it is well done for the style.
