October 13, 2023 - Pretty good. Only bottle. I am not a tempranillo fan.

September 10, 2017 - Starting to smell a little dried out to me. Getting more old, wine-soaked wood and less fruit. Lots of roasting meat and savory character on the nose. Loads of umami character on the palate, but the fruit is fading. Still a dense core here and it is fresh and loaded with herbs and spices. This has reached full maturity but it still very lively and fresh and would be a perfect accompaniment to grilled meats! 92-93

November 28, 2016 - Still a saturated ruby color. Lots of coffee on the nose as well as very ripe dark red and black fruits, mulberries and spice. Cedar. A bit earthy (sous bois), but remains pure. Full bodied and so, so silky on the palate! The tannin just tugs gently on the finish despite being of a moderately high level. This is in a really great place right now, it has lost some of the exuberance of youth and hasn't yet developed much in the way of tertiary aromas, but it is pure and opulent nonetheless. Great density and acidity, this may be better younger, but will last another 5-8 years. 93

January 9, 2012 - Day 2 review. Nose of sweet spices, soy sauce, cherry and violets. The wine is better than day one but nothing great. Certainly way over priced on retail so at $27 I don't feel too bad about the buy but worth a little less than that. 87 points

Day 3: This is why I don't give up on the $50 plus wines that don't show well on day one and two. Huge difference and this is a cellar wine for sure. The nose has lost its over the top spice aroma and is now showing blueberries, raspberries, perfume and Asian spices. The palate is still showing spice but offers leather, red fruits and earth. Medium finish and soft tannins overall. This wine has improved big time and I would cellar for five years or decant and Vinturi it. 91 to 93.

July 6, 2011 - Pop n pour. Perhaps this is what is wrong with wine journalism and winemaking today. It's been a while since my last BR experience but it would seem that little has changed. I find the BR wines to be the definition of hype/name/style at a ridiculous price with little if any sense of place and/or varietal. That may seem harsh to some, and it may not be perfectly fair to single out this wine, but you've to start somewhere. This wine typically retails for ~ $58, I purchased it for $35. Notwithstanding my purchase price, I feel slighted and poorer for the experience. Sure, it's juicy, plump, round and without any hard edges in sight, but with that comes, well, nothing. Easy drinking fermented grape juice, it's what the masses demand and it's what this wine delivers in spades. If this is your style, do yourself a favor and buy any one of a few hundred others that are within a hair's breadth of this, and likely under $15. The only saving grace is some balancing acidity and a conspicuous absence of (excessive) oak. Being a second wine doesn't automatically grant a license for mediocrity. I'm really hoping this was an off bottle. C/C+, drink now, 14,5% abv
