Community Tasting Notes 7

February 19, 2017 - Opened and poured immediately with aerator. Strong, classic cigar box and cedar nose. Leathery, chewy. Taste became much smoother over time. All in all, it was a great bottle that still had a lot of its original character. Like Sean Connery as James Bond - still a classic.

October 25, 2016 - 1978 California with John Gilman (Craft): Green bell pepper. Lots of fruit left. 1978 Cali Cab Tasting

December 16, 2015 - Ifune in NYC (Frankie & Johnnie's Steakhouse, NYC): A nice, elegant, restrained, svelte Cabernet, but definitely mature, with copious secondary notes. Medium bodied, with nice dried floral notes on the finish.

October 25, 2014 - Still in great shape even if already showing some signs of decline. The nose has just a whiff of oxidation amidst leather, tobacco, underwood. On the palates he same underwood, tobacco, ground coffee, very elegant. A nice afternoon drink.

May 11, 2013 - Another Saturday at Knightsbridge - mostly blind (Northbrook, IL): Tasted double blind. charming mature black fruit, some tobacco and leather aromas. Like most tasters today, I immediately thought this from Bordeaux. Elegant and mature lack fruit flavors are well balanced with earthy elements.
