July 7, 2016 - Pnp with guests at home. Not the best bottle with a high shoulder fill only. While the color was still a healthy garnet with only slight browning at the rim, I did think about pouring it down the wine seemed noticeably oxidized and with elevated acidity on a thin body clearly flawed. That's when I remembered F. Audouze' advice, closed it with a clean cork and put into the fridge. 24h later, the wine was to my surprise not entirely dead but rather much improved. Now a decent old claret with sous bois, some mushrooms and a remainder of fruit and with only a touch of oxidization as you find it in many old Sangiovese. Not great but decent and there are certainly better bottles

July 21, 1989 - Clear carmine with a brown edge, but strikingly dark for a 1976. Very rich, complex and developed bouquet; really inviting. Good acidity, berries, liquorice and iron. Still a good dose of tannin; the young and sticky are in well harmony with the ripe tannin. Long and creamy aftertaste with cassis fruit. A rich and delicious wine, which for me is now at its peak, but it will definitely last for a few more years.
