June 13, 2023 - Samples from Bill #7: Single blind. Lemon with apple, pear, smoky toast and white florals on the nose. Very composed on the palate, textured and with depth and length. Excellent acidity, giving the fruit great verve and lift. Really delicious wine and should age well also.

March 19, 2023 - Wow. Burgundian, Charlemagne meets meaursault. Heaps of minerality, flint and match stick in both nose and on the palate. Then lemon, peach, tropical fruits, wood, fudge, butter and some sweet licorice. High and lovely acidity, and a never-ending taste. Incredibly tasty and one where it's very hard to pace yourself.

August 19, 2022 - Festival of Phil (Phil's place, Putney, Sydney): Aromas of bacon fat, serious oak, a little stone fruit peeks out after a fair amount of time. Juicy, fleshy, tangy, textured burr, stone fruit with slight citrus underpin. Travels long but this is full on vinfanticide.

July 28, 2022 - Pronounced nose of flint, mineral, match stick, honey blossom, intense citrus.
Balanced intensity on palate - citrus, ripe melon
    Distinctive and very complex

May 28, 2021 - The art of gentle, slow seduction. Meyer lemon rind, then complex matchstick sulphides waft in and out as mineral-charged peach and nectarine notes emerge to dominate the aroma. Oak sits back; supporting and coaxing the textural white stone fruits to roll on the palate. Mineral laden acidity then draws citrus infused flavours longer on the palate. This year the fruit asserts itself whilst the artefact shadows - supporting but not interrupting the fruits pristine performance. Another high-end release of Giaconda chardonnay.

May 23, 2021 - i will keep this short. The new release Giaconda Chardonnay is another absolute stunner in the run of vintages that are all superb. it is flawless but laden with rich complex fruit, and structure for the long haul. Match stick and wood and ripe peach drizzled melons and basically think of every fruit of Grand Cru Burgundy descriptions and then put the = sign and it equals Giaconda.

There are other great and worthy Australian Chardonnays worth seeking out but this is a whole level up again. Phantasmagorical with a capital 'F' !!!

    May 7, 2021 - Appearance: pale lemon.
Nose: pronounced intensity; aromas of nut, flint, lemon, grapefruit, red apple, ginger, orange peel, subtle cream, blossom. It's developing.
Palate: dry, high acidity, medium alcohol, medium body, pronounced flavour intensity, long finish.
Overall, it's an outstanding wine. Can drink now, has potential for further ageing.
Wow! this is a wine truly living up to its name. No wonder it was sold out within a few hours after release. Just got my order last week and couldn't help opening a bottle. The wine has lively acidity, fresh and extremely intense, pure yet evolving. Absolutely cracking flavour intensity with never-ending finish. Personally, I think it's better than the Corton-Charlemagne I tasted last week (although in different style). The quality of this wine can surely compete with some of the great Grand Cru Burgundies. Tasted it along with Savaterre and a single vineyard chardy from Ten Minute by Tractor. It came far superior than the other two. Well, what can I say...Despite its approachability at this stage, I will try to leave the rest of bottles for another 5 years so that it can reveal its true potential.
