February 29, 2024 - Syrah - Rhone vs SA - Cabotte with the NLWTS (Cabotte): Really fruit forward nose. Brambles and blackberries on the nose; still some noticeable fruit/sweetness. Hint of Jamminess? Not much of that classic cote-rotie ‘meatiness’. On the palate, noticeably high acidity; pretty austere. No jamminess to speak of. At nearly 20 years old the fruit isn’t exactly exuberant, but it doesn’t seem to have yet been replaced by many lovely tertiary notes either. Really fresh and direct, but needs more time for me. 91++

February 29, 2024 - Syrah at Cabotte with the TWS North London Group (Cabotte, London): Deep dark to medium red. Smells a bit shiny if that is a thing, silken perhaps, some candyfloss element. So it is a bit of a surprise that the wine is much firmer on the palate than these initial hints of sweetness indicate. Like it's flightmate the Clape '96, it is an austere wine that has ages to go seemingly. The fruit kicks in at the back end and is very delicious, I just think the wine needs longer to come together and I'd be pleased if this was the first of a case.

February 29, 2024 - Syrah - N Rhone vs SA with the N London Crew; 2/29/2024-3/1/2024 (La Cabotte): Nose seems more expressive than its flightmate - someone said "shiny" and this seems fair - oak? Stems? Reduction? This is tight tight tight - still a pup really. Clearly quality wine there but I'd wait a little while before drinking another.

October 21, 2023 - Bright fruit on the nose, flowers. Less gemacht compared to the Vidal Fleury, here are flowers, and lively fruit on the palate in a slightly polished style. Certainly enjoyable at this stage.

October 21, 2023 - Needs air, doing very well. Stil primary fruit here, very fresh and vertical, stony, elegant. feminin, olives showing, good acidity. Needs food.

(JASMIN Cote Rotie) Cote Rotie Dear Friends, I feel like I’ve been waiting for a decade or more for Jasmin to make a Cote Rotie this special - in 2005 he finally delivered on a promise that has been so close so many times. This wine has everything a Cote Rotie enthusiast could ask for - it is terroir focused, pure, coated in minerality and full of the smoky Syrah tone that only comes from the slopes above Ampuis. It should age beautifully. I had this wine tonight for the second time in the last three weeks (the first time was the first night of my trip when I found it on a store shelf in Paris and it was excellent) - the winery bottle I had tonight was even better than the bottle I had in Paris - it cemented the notion of how good Jasmin’s 2005 really is...and the price is still within reason for Cote Rotie: This wine is not readily available in the US. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ONE SHIPMENT ONLY directly from the source with perfect provenance 2005 Jasmin Cote Rotie (IWC90-93) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Rhone8310
