Community Tasting Notes 1

February 1, 2020 - While there are notes already on this particular wine, decided to create a new wine here in CT since the existing notes are not under the correct name. This is what we know today as Chateau d'Armailhac. which was called Chateau Mouton d'Armailhacq until 1956. In 1957 the name was changed to Chateau Mouton Baron Philippe just to take on the female form in 1975 as Chateau Mouton Baronne Philippe. In 1989 the wine finally became Chateau d'Armailhac as we know it today.
Anyway, this was surprisingly good. Was not expecting much as this bottle was only mid- to high shoulder. Completely soaked corker which came out easily as always using the Durand. The wine is still showing a dull garnet core which turns slightly mahogany towards the rim. Good freshness and acidity join the dry fruit and a touch of stewed vegetables. Good length. Pnp and then held up well for the entire 1.5h. This is showing better than a 57 Chateau Margaux I had a year or two ago. Very nice and easy to drink on your own since this is probably only around 11-11.5% alcohol.
