May 5, 2024 - Drinking really well. 20 minute decant through a tea filter. Lots of sediment. Damaged cork. First pours heavy cinnamon and spice, after an hour in the glass jammy as hell. No tannins to speak of.

June 1, 2022 - Still drinking gorgeously. Nice black fruit still present mid-palate, nice balance, completely resolved tannins. This wine is likely at its peak. Stored in ideal condition since its release in the early 90s, top upper 1/5th of cork still completely dry. Bottom portion broke but was removed with care. This wine really started to open up after 30 minutes and turned into something special with more air, even developing a nice finish that didn't exist upon opening. We didn't decant, just let it breath slowly from the bottle and glasses for the first 30 minutes.

Paired with goat cheese-pistaccio salad at Nicolas, lobster risotto, and seared scallop appetizers. W-dad at Nicola's.

April 9, 2016 - Beautiful nose, notes of herb, olives, cedar, woody, earthy, leather, cooked red fruits, stewed cherries. Palate, still showing stiff tannins and plenty of structure. Cooked cherries, leather, smoke, cherry, plum, prune, spice, cinnamon, clove.
    Really amazing.

October 24, 2014 - A great Italian evening in Belgium: In the bouquet animals and some metal. On the palate a mature wine with some rust, good acidity and slightly drying tannin. There is quite much development, but the wine is still beautiful.

October 24, 2014 - Italian night @ Stappato (Enoteca Stappato, Leuven (Belgium)): This is showing its age now, aromatically. But the structure is still thick, creamy and quite vivacious. Loved the classic aged Cabernet nose better than the palate.
