April 6, 2024 - Bright purple-red color with slight translucence. Spicy, blackberry nose. Deeply flavored on the palate, big blackberry fruit, hint of raspberry, anise. Firm tannins, bright acidity, good balance. Finishes moderately long with bramble fruits and spice. There is a touch of heat (15% ABV). Classic Zin. Drink next 3 years.

June 13, 2023 - Three words: WHAT A MASTERPIECE! I might even be underrating it at 93. Brad T nails it below. Probably impossible to find now, but if you stumble across it, don’t miss it!

May 23, 2023 - Many, many years ago, a neophyte tried a very, very old Ridge Zin from the 70's made by The Master. It rocked his world and made him rethink Zinfandel and the field blends made from old vines planted by Italian immigrants before WWI. That magic is here! If you want to experience what happens when pristine old vine Zinfandel from heritage vines is lovingly tended, judiciously harvested, given the "Master Treatment" by a new Master, and set down to rest a long time, this is you bottle. The Big Fruit is here, but the elegance is now at the forefront, so beautifully expressive and graceful on the palate. I am saving my last bottle of this vintage to share with a neophyte who may be open to the experience as a means to pass it forward.

February 12, 2023 - Great zin that is drinking really well right now. Possibly just past it's prime, but still plenty of delicious zin fruit and enough structure. I have not been a huge fan of 2011 zins in general, but Mike did an amazing job across the board. Drink now.
