Took several hours to open, but was fantastic when it did. Plenty of fruit, power and structure. Drank next to the '13 which was very good as well.

7/13/19, 6:21 AM - Hi, the wine was part of a Super Tuscan tasting and was open in the bottle. We tasted it several times in a 3-4 hour window.

This is sensational! Big black fruits up front with some bordeaux following. Best 40 bucks ever spent. Drink or hold. 93+

1/24/18, 6:42 AM - This was purchased a year ago.

Tasted blind, WS vs WM. This was our first pinot and it came out screaming. Young, vibrant with lots of tension. Lush and rich with good amounts of fruit. After a couple hours this calmed down and was very pleasant. 91/92

12/13/16, 5:18 PM - I agree and will by buying more WM in the future.

    Cheers!

12/27/17, 2:20 PM - WM is WesMar Winery. They(Kirk & Denise) used to work at Williams Selyem before starting their own winery. Also, Denise is the daughter of Ed Selyem.

Similar to previous notes.

9/1/15, 9:25 PM - I've had way too many sweet wines, so this has a little pucker to it. It has a tasting profile that is so different from what I'm used to. It also reminds me of red wine vinegar. Wild, huh?

3rd Coravin taste. Same as before, but slightly less impressive. A big wine, well made, too one dimensional.
  • JS199 commented:

7/28/15, 6:28 AM - Its been opened for two weeks. First time tasting any Vega Sicilia wine. I'm a total newbee in the Tempranillo world. I have some Alion from the same year that I'll probably Coravin. Cheers!

7/28/15, 10:25 PM - Thanks for the recommendations. Pingus will be on my radar. I've had the muga Prado Enea 05 and must say it's exquisite(lighter in style). Cheers!

First taste, Coravin. A burly smokey tempranillo. Elegant given its big feet.
  • JS199 commented:

7/21/15, 7:58 PM - This was my second time using it(Coravin). I'm planning on trying longer time between tastes. I'm a little skeptical that I can taste a bottle over a year, but we'll see.

Tasted at Ridge Vineyards. Still young, hinting at greatness. Powerful, dark and full bodied. The strongest/biggest of the three tasted('88,'04,'11).
  • JS199 commented:

    6/16/15, 2:58 PM - Yes, I'd say another 10+ years. I tried a '96 & '97 recently and they're still tasting young. Glacial evolution!

Not flawed, but not great either. Super tight. Unusual for this producer and vintage.
  • JS199 commented:

8/7/13, 9:15 PM - Did not decant, opened and drank over 3+ hrs. I've had many of the 07s and none of them have acted this way. Normally, they'll open beautifully in an hour once you pour some out. I would say this was happenstance.
