BBQ & Wines (Oegstgeest, NL): Beige label without ID code, V751 letter code on the cork, which means disgorged sept/oct 2007. This wine was richly vinous and expressive, supremely harmonious with gingerbread, hazelnut, brioche and more mature citrus complexity.

Wonderful expressive nose. On the palate silky textured, with excellent balance of fine, ripe tannins, acid freshness and blackcurrant fruit ending with intensity and finesse. A Les Amoureuses-like experience!!

A private tasting (at home): Tasted blind. Elegant and refined, fragrant and pure, immaculate precision and finesse, powerful and concentrated but almost weightless, poised and firm like a ballet dancer, silky texture and tannins, long and linear. Beautiful, quite sublime actually. Very good now, many years ahead of it.

BOLLINGER (Wijnhandel Peeters @ Rotterdam , the Netherlands.): A total of 3 300 bottles were produced. Exceptional complexity on the nose with powerful candied fruit and bread aromas. On the palate round, creamy and wonderful balanced, with exceptional richness. Youthful with endless aging potential.

TOPBOURGOGNES (whites) (Tasting @ restaurant Fitzgerald , Rotterdam): Powerful on the nose, with good concentration of refined citrus and round acidity, finishing with good detail and length. Very good village just below Batard.
  • Barry Rothof commented:

3/25/16, 12:32 PM - Chassagne-Montrachet les Encégnières vineyard is bordering Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignères and directly beneath Bâtard-Montrachet. The PYCM wine label displays the vineyard name Chassagne-Montrachet Les Ancégnières?

VinGilles Chambolle-Musigny Tasting (Café De Klepel, Prinsenstraat 22, Amsterdam, NL): Fully mature, good and sturdy wine, good weight, but neither the fragrance nor the elegance of the terroir. (90). But, surprise, then it opens up nicely in the glass, cleans up, developing lovely floral notes and a lovely terroir expression.

Popped and poured. Darker ruby. Nose and palate were closed and hard as nails for about 90 minutes but gradualliy opened to reveal scents of dark fruit, stones, and fresh florals, plus a palate of austere but precise, hard-nosed raspberry fruit. The fruit was so primary that it had a ringing, pulpy quality. The tannins were firm and acidity quite high. Moderate finish of briars, black cherry, and mineral. Many years away from maturity, this was fascinating to get a glimpse of at this early juncture.
  • Barry Rothof commented:

5/3/13, 1:34 PM - Thanks totaly agree; 'firm tannin and high acidity'. Great notes!

Popped at 630, started to drink at 730, medium red in color, quite translucent. Nose initially a touch gamey which blew off in just minutes. In the next few hours the nose gradually showed its turf, very deep signature Leroy floral nose with loads of spices, very complex here. Medium plus palate with layers of floral red fruit emanating, perfect balance in terms of fruit and acidity, very long and elegant finish. This is an interesting wine coz the palate is not huge yet it oozes with many layers of sap, which you need to savour slowly to enjoy all of its qualities. A great and young RSV.
  • Barry Rothof commented:

3/21/13, 11:49 AM - Thanks for the notes! Will try this 2002 Domaine Leroy RSV soon!
