You get both the impression of the grape and the terroir. At first I was impressed by the very fine grapefruit-acids, but after some time in the glass it became much broader with impressions of limestone, ripe pineapple, a slightly greasy touch (but much less than most Bourgogne) and some vanilla, also displaying a fabulous lenght. Impressive stuff!

Very intense, strong focus on ripe and sweet black fruits, some candy, the passage in the barrels shows a bit too much, still on the (very) young side, typical Napa-style wine ;)

It needed some time in the glass to fully show its potential, so still on the young side. The focus lays on the fruit.

The Crianza and Finca Valentina are always the better choice I feel. The style of the Reserva is less attractive for me, missing a bit of harmony.

Modern Chianti with juicy red fruits, some heat is noticeable but with global warming it has become difficult to find 'fresh' Sangiovese in recent vintages.

This bottle (of Savagnin ;) (see below)) was very refined and elegant but missing some complexity and exuberancy, making it slightly boring, but it was a good match with a curry dish.

Served very slightly chilled proved to be a good call: the fruit and acidity really came to live. With a couple of °C extra a 'Bordeaux-feeling' made its appearance.

Quite modern Tempranillo, but not in a bad way, so fortunately no focus on heavy toasted oak, but lots of ripe fruits without being overripe and without showing too much alcohol.

Needed some time in the glass to find its balance, suggesting it's still on the young side, for a Sangiovese the fruit is quite intense and dark. It gives a ripe and warm impression but the lively acidity counters this.

At first the oxidative part was really in your face, missing refinement and balance. After some time in the refrigerator it was more balanced but also flat and dull. (bottle was drunk over a one week period of time or so)

Juicy red & black forest fruits, refined, elegant with lots of freshness. The Carmenère leads to herbs, but here in a more refined and better dosed way than in Chili. Excellent wine but it has become a bit expensive.

It's quite obvious that this a natural wine, with butter, a very refined and expressive acidity and a mineral aftertaste.
