Another incredibly aged musar. Has it all and then some! 5 hours in the decanter and still getting better (in disbelief). Probably the best aged QPR that I know of.

High acid, soft but present (not drying) tannins and a melange of aged leather, dried fruits, and Brett (in the best of ways)

Of the ~50+ Zin I've tried this is just freaking awesome. Best zin of my life! Incredibly velvety, weighty mouthful with an insane fruit poise on the palate which is where the wine really shines (the nose is killer but the real fun is on the palate). The (red) fruit flavors are truly regal. 94-95+

Wow this has improved since 2 years ago. Just starting to shed its primary fruit layers and have the secondary/age notes peak out. If you have a 2+ bottles crack one now to check in! Great napa cab for the price.

This bottle was absolutely rocking last night. After 1.5 hour decant this was insanely good. Wonderful acidity and red fruits. Drink or hold.

One of the best Zinfandels I've ever had. I actually enjoyed this more on day 1 than day 2. Did not decant but drank it in the glass over 1-2 hours. Beautiful!

Pretty amazing bottle. Almost reminded me of a nicely aged 15-20 year old napa cab (I know, crazy). Bought this from K&L recently so not sure if this was stored all its life in a cool cellar but seemed more developed than what I'd expect from a 6 year zin. 92-93 but ill be honest, this bottle didn't seem like it would last another 2 years with how developed this wine was.

Almost undrinkable - wife couldn't get past half a glass. 97 from Decanter is an absolute joke.

94 (Day one) Re-corked and put it in the fridge.

90 (Day two) Not sure what happened but the nose wasn't as fragrant and the palate was somewhat bitter and astringent.

On par if not better than d'Yquem in my very limited experience. What an exceptional bottle of wine at an otherworldly price!

This bottle already seems past peak. Definitely recommend drinking up if you have any of these left.

Did a 24 hour decant followed by a 2-3 hour decant and it kept getting better and better. Give this big boy a huuuge decant or wait a few years. Awesome stuff.

After a one hour decant - the palette is disjointed, with a weird astringent/bitter aftertaste that I haven't come across in a very long time. This has to be one of the worst bottles of wine I've had in the past two years (and no it wasn't flawed!) Purchased from a reputable merchant, this bottle may have been "off" but it surely wasn't even worth the $35 paid. To be honest, I would have been disappointed if this wine was $20.

One of the most harmonious wines to date. Certaunly a top 5 wine that I've ever had the privilege of drinking. This seems like it could effortlessly go another 10+ years. Incredible stuff!

Drinking so well after a long decant. Had the first glass after about an hour but markedly improved after 3 hours of decanting. 13.8% - seamless and superbly drinkable with no astringency or tannic bite. Super elegant stuff. Love the 36% cab franc - really shines.

Purchased from the wine house on somewhat of an impulse buy. This either was not cellared well at some point in its lifetime or this wine is already over the hill. I'm going to go with the former but it's always hard to swallow when you purchase a wine of this price and it's a big disappointment. There was nothing flawed with this wine but it tasted "old". Not sure I'm going to risk buying older wines unless I really trust the merchant or buy from the winery. In this case, I've lost some faith in the Wine House.

Easily one of the best wines of my life - harmoniously balanced, juicy uplifted acidity and high toned red fruits with the most incredible mint/menthol/eucalyptus note on both the nose and palate. If drinking now, give this an hour+ to let it really show its potential. Might improve over the years but dear lord is this amazing juice.

Incredibly drinkable. I hate to use the word smooth but this has it written all over it. Tannins are basically non-existent but the fruit and medium (minus?) acidity hold it together. There's just something so awesome about drink-ability and this wine's got it.

The epitome of a crowd-pleaser. Pop n pour, no need for a decant. The tannins are extremely polished and the fruit has an awesome cooling sensation. Certainly not rich and extracted but not far from it.

2009 Château Langoa Barton St. Julien Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Gave this 2-3 hours in a wide decanter and it finally started to blossom towards the 3 hour mark. It also tasted better slightly colder than room temperature so I'd recommend putting this in the fridge for ~20 minutes after the decant.

Enjoyable but a tad too spicy and oaky for my taste. The sandalwood note really came through on this (not to my liking) but I think this is worth a try for ~$25.

Really beautiful wine. Red fruits, soft subtle herbs, and a dynamic yet singular medium+ finish. The winemaker, Pedro Parra, is commonly referred to as "Mr. Terroir". You can tell the wine was made with love. Old vine cinsault that was dry-farmed with a whopping 597 bottles produced. The aromas are pure and concise without any astringency whatsoever. Give this a few minutes in the glass to warm up from cellar temp and you will relish in its uniqueness and charm. At $40 this is a steal.

This was insane - so much candy and jam. I see why people love this. Just understand that this is in your face big jammy fruit; once you get past that you can start to appreciate this wine for what it is. I think this is worth a try but just know what you're getting yourself into before buying.

Drainpour... and no, it wasn't flawed.
