A wine full of potential but WAY too young. Much better on day two but still not giving much. Reduced for sure... violets, licorice, truffle, and plums reach out looking for freedom... from the big giant tannins... all the pieces will come together but not for another 10-12 years best guess especially if your cellar is a bit too cool. The stuffing of a great wine but the score is all about its potential. Don’t open one for a while- it’s shut down pretty tight.

5/19/18, 2:57 PM - I worry too about that but the wine opened and improved over 3-4 days softening the hard tannins and bringing the fruit more to the front... long decant, etc. I’ve hope as there are plenty of Barolo and bordeaux that are hard as nails for a long long time (will ‘86 bordeaux ever open up?)- we’ll see.

Evolving nicely... again, nose perfumed of lavender, cedar, anise, coffee... integrated now more than ever... plum, blueberry, anise, a little bittersweet chocolate... full bodied, sweet ripe tannins. Not overly ripe nor cloying. Ultra long on the finish. Just delicious.

4/17/17, 11:47 AM - no decant- poured a couple of glasses- enjoyed over 3 hours; wine opened up rather quickly- certainly a bit of sediment at the end- so maybe a nice quick decant just to avoid some sediment would be helpful-
