2013 Roagna Langhe Rosso Langhe DOC Nebbiolo
consistent with prior. I have loved this bottle since release and this one was no different. just a stellar bottle of langue rosso. corkage @ razza

    10/12/22, 5:47 PM - I don't remember the exact corkage details but it is reasonable...maybe $30? no stems if I recall...tumblers

if you like your whites RIPPING then here's a good one. liked this. going to lay down the other two

9/4/22, 4:44 PM - Do you like high acid wines?

I LOVE Collin, but this cuvee continues to be the one wine of his that is the exception. An odd bottling that almost reminds one of Lambrusco, it almost has a bit of fizz (and not in the champagne sense) and just feels very disjointed to me. It's an interesting wine, but not one I want more off.
  • R.H. commented:

8/29/20, 5:12 PM - we agree on lots of things friend, but this is not one of them!

2014 Arnot-Roberts Chardonnay Trout Gulch Vineyard Santa Cruz Mountains
Candied (but barely) lemon is a fair tasting note. It still has that puckering acidity that is so distinctive

Drank side by side w the Ceritas TG ‘14. Nose was quite similar on both but they diverge on the palate
  • R.H. commented:

8/19/19, 3:00 PM - It’s the Ceritas for me. But I buy both of them!

Lightning can strike twice, or maybe this is just an awesome bottle of wine. Upon opening, the ‘67 showed wonderful dried cherries and sweet dusty florals, gaining depth the longer it remained open, as earth tones, hints of soy, smoke and cedar developed. On the palate, it was feminine and lift, with an almost juicy persona, as notes of fresh strawberry, peppery herbs, and spice flooded across the senses, leaving hints of dried florals and sous bois. The finish was medium in length, resonating of dried inner florals, a twang of minerality and spice. Such a beautiful and mature bottle of Barolo.
  • R.H. commented:

5/23/19, 6:21 PM - Eric, did you open these ahead of time / double decant ?

  • R.H. commented:

5/24/19, 8:27 AM - Thanks Eric. I picked up a couple bottles each of ‘67 and ‘74. Thinking I’ll crack a 67 at a dinner this week, maybe with a few hours of air...

1989 Nebbiolo at Cinghiale (Cinghiale, Baltimore): '89 nebbiolo at Cinghiale

An intoxicating perfume that seems to fill not just the nose but your lungs as well. Cherry fruit, roses, balsamic notes, porcini, cherry Luden's in the best way possible. On the palate, sap and density without heaviness. Harmony, power and grace. To throw in in another overused term, iron fist in a velvet glove. This has beautiful inner mouth perfume, sap and depth. Terrific balance and tension. Towering yet graceful. In spite of al the technical beauty, this is and emotional wine, that just sings to you. Drinking fantastically well, and has a future lifespan to measure in decades. Firm. Wonderful wine.
  • R.H. commented:

10/13/18, 2:15 PM - Felt the same way about it filling your lungs. Almost hard to take a full breath. What a wine.

2016 Raen Winery Chardonnay Charles Ranch Fort Ross - Seaview
A bit one dimensional now. Wouldn’t touch this yet, just too early.
  • R.H. commented:

6/6/18, 4:26 AM - Less forward and full than aubert/kistler. Though i found it lacked the tension and complexity of my favorite wines. But I did it no favors opening so early. Will taste again in a year

La Fête de La Paulée: Full, dense nose of sweet and ripe orchard fruit is primary and non-delineated. Big, rich and ripe sweet orchard fruit with some citrus and mineral. Taut acids that aren't yet in harmony with the fruit. Showed a bit simple and awkward at this stage. Lots of upside from here.
  • R.H. commented:

5/6/18, 11:46 AM - opened one of my 2014 roulot meursault village last night. drinking pretty easily right now. oddly more open than a recent 2013 i had which was quite wound up and more painfully intense. i only have one 2014 boucheres so i'll sit on that for a while i think...

2011 Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas Renaissance Syrah
Good but needs time. Ideally time in the cellar, but if you must drink it now, decant and walk away for a couple hours. Very tightly wound upon first opening. Started to soften after 30 min and was much better after 90min. Inky purple. Dark berries, pepper, flowers, stone.
  • R.H. commented:

3/15/17, 1:12 PM - We drank it all in the first sitting for better or worse!

2 oz pour. Not decanted. I liked this a lot. Several layers of minerals, dusty rasberrries, some cherry liquor. Touches of smoke and all spice. All this and delicate and elegant.

3/1/17, 6:35 PM - How's it going...I was also at this dinner. So firstly let me commend you for typing up your notes so quickly. The mugernet feusselots might've been my "WOTN". I thought it had great balance, a super expressive nose, and showed really well. I also liked the hudelot-noellat a good deal. Cheers

3/3/17, 4:47 AM - Yea that was great night!

My first tasting the the pmr Chardonnay from 14 checking in on it before the release tomorrow, while it's a nice wine and my style of Chardonnay it seems atypical of what I've come to expect from this site, everything fells more dialed down and restrained and really doesn't come across like any of the previous 3 vintages, notes of lemon, pear, saline hint, similar palate with lots of fruit on the attack that really subsides after the mid palate, lots of acidity and good structure.
  • R.H. commented:

    1/29/17, 3:57 PM - early release tmrw?

  • R.H. commented:

1/30/17, 2:43 PM - Got it thx. I got email for feb2 release window hence my curiosity. I havent checked in on the '14 pmr in a while, maybe I'll crack one soon. I thought the porter bass chard was drinking well tho
