Yeah, it’s elegant but not enough stuffing. Will not be better.

On the nose this beautiful fresh and sweet pomegranate note that the Orveaux 2010 also displayed to some similar extent that night. The palate is pure silk, beautiful measured acidity, just so well judged. Long and deep pinot fruit. For me clearly the WOTN. This should be sensational in 10 years. Again confirming the 2010 is THE vintage for recent great vintages in Burgundy. Seems to just be coming out on top in larger tastings again and again.

    7/1/21, 6:07 AM - Yeah, 10 i very good, but 05 is the greatest!

This is unreal. Third and last bottle, unfortunately.

    9/7/19, 8:18 AM - Not that much. 30 min?

White
2016 Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Clos du Meix Blanc Chardonnay
With only a few tastes so far, Lamy is rapidly becoming one of (if not the) my favorite white Burgundy producers; this wine was just killer; yes it is young, but the nose is so pure and fresh... lemon peel, fresh pear, green apple, crushed stone, and high toned floral notes lead into a palate that is laser like in precision; very crisp and juicy, but has density hidden in there with a stellar long finish. For the price, white Burg does not get better than this.

‪I think this is the best Nuits-St-Georges village I’ve ever had. Complexity and hedonism combined. I don’t want to sell any of these. I’d rather drink them all myself.‬

Yet another pleasing 08. Big bubbles, if that is of any significance. Good but not great.

    6/13/18, 12:44 PM - Haha, yeah that's a note for Corton 2012 from Marchand-Tawse. Will edit.

This is indeed a fine bottle of Barbaresco. Lovely depth of flavours and an array of complex details. in a perfect spot right now (and as usual also the last bottle...). 93p

Very good, of course. Lovley complex fruit and Vosne GC elegance. Some un integrated wood still is the only drawback. 94+

‪As usual, one of the best SA's. Surprisingly the 09 base seems more tight and tart than the 08. Might be a difference in the reserve wines.‬
  • Tavastgatan commented:

8/17/17, 10:38 AM - You're right. And that makes more sense as well. 2007 beeing more open than 2008.

No, it's too oaky and clumsy. Quality fruit, yes. But no elegance.
  • Tavastgatan commented:

12/25/14, 1:17 PM - Because it's still a quite impressive wine. But not my prefered style.

Carillon Referts is a decent drink and certanly better their disappointing 2008's, but I'm losing faith in this domain.
  • Tavastgatan commented:

8/14/14, 6:47 AM - They are no good. I think they suffer badly from premox related problems. Some with ox, some just with fruit alredy in decline. I'm sure they all were absolutely fine on release.

Is this very good? Yes. Is it great? No. Fully mature and an intense nose. Elegant and lighter in the mouth. Recent vintages are stronger.
  • Tavastgatan commented:

    5/27/14, 10:12 AM - Yes, I mean better.

Must be something wrong with his bottle. Is's good but it should be fantastic. The nose is very mute but the palate is full of ripe fruit with lots of licorice and cherries. Somthing is missing.
  • Tavastgatan commented:

4/20/14, 1:16 AM - You are probably right. It was super when young. Will wait for next bottle though.

Quite funny mix up here. The Swedish importer of Mugnier orders this wine from the list. It is served blind to the people around the table. I found it very classy and elegant on the nose, but the flavours were quite modern and sweet in style. My guess was Chambolle 2009 from Groffier. We are all told that this is in fact Amoureuse 2010 from Mugnier. We are calling for the bottle and in comes the waiter with Amoureuse 2010 from Groffier! The waiter thought the order was for Groffier instead of Mugnier.
  • Tavastgatan commented:

8/25/13, 5:47 AM - No, we got the right bottle afterwards. So, the Groffier were for free :)

This is quite alright, though just a shadow of a real Hermitage from Chave. You get what you pay for.
  • Tavastgatan commented:

7/12/13, 12:46 PM - Yeah, should be pay of course. Autocorrection....

This has improved quite a bit since 2009. This is now developed to a deep, sweet and delicious wine with a lovely lemon character.
