Lovely. Dark cherries & plums on the nose, with a bit of anise & dried vanilla on the nose. Nice fruit on the palate, carrying its age nicely as it's plum skin & still robust black cherries with good bits of anise, black currant, hint of graphite & vanilla. Still decent acid & tannic grip; wonderful with a rich Beef Wellington. Two left from a six pack and I'll probably give the next 3-4 years before I check back in.

Really enjoyed this. Dark fruits ranging from blackberry & black cherries to black plums show throughout. Nice spice (anise, clove) and dried herbs add interest. Good med+ body with ample supporting structure. Big fan of it today, easily can hang around 5+ years

Sandalwood, cedar, five spice, dark pomegranate, black cherry, stemmy/earthy notes along side dark raspberries. Med+ body, raspberry/craisin/back cherry & raspberries all fresh & crunchy. Some vanilla, cistrus-y acid, and bit of earth show up as well. Acid & tannin are there but beneath the fruit at the moment. Lot going on here likely still to unfold.

Fresh blueberry & blackberries with some rhubarb, citrus, and brown spice notes. Rounded body shows that dark fruits alongside nice stemmy spice notes & a little vanilla bean. Finishes nicely with a mix of dark raspberry, herby savoriness, and med+ acid.
Had blind, side by side with the Anderson Valley. This showed more herb & slightly redder fruit, but they were much more similar than I expected.

Great dark fruits (black raspberry, ripe dark cherry) alongside black tea & dry leafy herbs on the nose. Touch of citrus in the acid, a nice complement to the wealth of dark fruit & tea/herbal notes. Med+ body & acid with a long finish.
Had blind beside the Sonoma Coast and this gave slightly darker fruit with more tea (vs herbal profile of the SC). Fairly similar, but interesting comparison.

Very good. Great ripe black cherry on the nose, a bit of woodsy spice (balsam, herb stems kinda thing). Touch of earth. Med+ body, dark & red cherries on the palate, a little bit of raspberry creeps in, and med+ acid frames a med finish.
Solid, enjoyable wine - but blinded among other Anderson Valley Pinots, was the least favorite of the group. On its own I'd never complain.

Black fruit, toasted herbs & burnt spices. Med body, cooked red fruits (cherries, raspberries), little herb (dill?) and smoke thrown in. Med- finish, somewhat thin, with little supporting tannin.

Part of a Syrah tasting, this didn't play the role I expected. Lighter body than anticipated, but with very jammy/cooked fruits.

Consistently delivers what I want from Northern Rhone. Crunchy, brambly black fruit (raspberries, blackberries, dark cherries). Fairly fresh but plenty of fruit there. Fresh spice, green peppercorn, toasty herbs add depth. Med+ acid & tannins made this a great food wine.

Nice, enjoyable, though short of thrilling. Less perfumed nose than I expected, but plenty of white stone fruit & melon are there with just a little fresh floral tone. Little bit of greenness, sort of dandelion-y hints throughout. Med+ body, decent acid, well put together for an easy drinker.

Big nose of candied cherry, a little brandy/nutty/date tone, some pine sap & herbs. Med+ palate with med acid & tannins, this is big & round and comes off slightly sweet. Nice red fruit, cherry tart & spice cake notes. Good long finish brings some of the herbal & pine notes back. More about fruit than structure, probably one to drink sooner than later.

More alive than I would have guessed, but not sure it's on a track to improve much. Vanilla, dark red & black fruits, a bit of clove/vanilla bean/cacao show themselves throughout. Med+ body, med acid & tannin only slightly notable. Feels like one to drink up, but still very good

Plenty of funky earth and horse blanket, with crunchy red fruit (cranberry, pomegranate, fresh raspberries & dark cherries). Nice medium palate with med+ acid & tannins. Drank from a Coravin'd bottle over a few weeks, great with all kinds of protein-heavy food

Nice spice, pepper, and hints of earth atop dark red berry/cherries and a bit of plum skin. Good acid finish. Went well w/pizza

A little lean & odd, but I like it. Dried red fruits faintly there, with a lot of dried herb & olives & underbrush on the nose. Med- weight, good earthy & green peppercorn tones, just enough fruit there to keep it from feeling too austere. Nice acid, med tannins. A bit much on its own but great with rich food.

Much respect for this budget bottle. From magnum, given a couple hours of air in the bottle. Just med intensity but nice cool red cherry & dried black fruit tones beneath some earth & woodsy herb. Palate isn't as giving or "fun" as some CdR might be expected to be, but has good structure and spice/earth tones. I like it. Easy, works on its own, better with food.

Surprised by how alive this was. Still a lot of dark fruit, plum, black cherries, blackberry jam, and lifted herbal tones (mint, sage) & a little mineral/creosote thing. Still nearly full bodied on the palate, with all that dark fruit giving way to the herb & graphite finish. Med tans & acid persist but still in balance. Probably around an early window; room for that fruit to mellow out a bit.

Tasty for what it is. Somewhere between a Chianti and light Cab Franc. Big of tomato leaf & dark red fruits & earth throughout, with a peppery lean (med-) palate and grippy acid. Decent quaffer, worked well with food

Reserved nose & palate; only slight bits of lychee but the cold climate & lean soil comes through with nice acidity & a floral nose accented by a wooly tone

Vanilla undertones with white florals, subtle fleshy apple, and custardy citrust notes as well on the nose. Med+ body with a nice vanilla streak through citrus & white orchard fruits. Med finish & acid. Solid weight to this 1er cru burg.

Great nose with some melon, golden apple, dried pineapple, damp flowers, some earthy / sweaty wool aromas work their way in as well. Palate still has plenty of fresh, tart fruit (orchard, pineapple) with a great saline streak. Med body & med+ acid, this has great length and could have gone for years more but is in a great spot today.

Alive, if a bit light...perhaps tired. Some mineral & lemon to the nose, which show on the med palate. Dried white orchard fruits & lemon reemerge alongside med acid, riverstones, and a touch of bitterness. Not bad, but I'd say time to drink

Popped & drank at dinner. Yellow stone fruits, touch of dried floral is there but muted; a little half-dried bale of straw as an undertone. Nice med body carries the stone/orchard fruits nicely - yellow peach, pear skin. Varietal's characteristic acidity shows up on the finish. Really nice w sushi given the somewhat neutral profile alongside nice body & notable acid

Cold cream undertone, soft red & yellow apple, a bit of dried vanilla bean & hint of dried yellow florals. Med body, med+ acid is mouthwatering. Nice end is rich w vanilla cream & ripe orchard undertones but is well supported w acidic zip.

Nose of cool blue & black berries, black plum, black peppercorn, singed herbs, and a rocky graphite tone. Very giving.
Body has a creaminess to it but still feels light-maybe that's the whole cluster? Shows those dark fruits & spices, adding a vanilla note midway through. Brambly.
Nice herbal streak. Gives a little heat but mostly med+ acid & tannin are there. Really enjoyed this

Initial glass was a little disjointed...Cab Franc on the nose & finish, Merlot in the middle. After some air, and a few days later (pumped stopper) it was a bit more integrated. Dried herbs & some pyrazine/celery seed notes on the nose with a bit of dried dark red fruit notes underneath. Med palate weight, touch of plump darker fruit in the mid feels lively, then an integrated finish with great acid & more dried herbs in the finish. Went through some muddled moments but an interesting one to sip.

Gives plenty of tobacco & dried herb on the nose, with dried red berry fruits beneath. Med+ body is a good mix of dried red & black cherry fruit alongside herbs, tobacco, and forest floor. Still has some structure but I'll likely drink my remaining bottle within a few years.

Big fan. Nose shows black fruit & spice, a bit of florals, and a touch of meatiness. Silky, elegant palate still shows its dark fruit but there's a lot of savory, spicy depth & backend minerality. There's still tannin & acid to hold for longer, but I found this to be drinking very well.

Cedar aromatics w/some herbs and dried red fruit (red cherry, craisins). Elegant & med bodied, leaning toward rustic & structured after a couple hours of air. Still has life but I thought this was in a great spot.

Really enjoyed this. Sangio aromatics of red/dark red fruit & herbs and structured, acidic finish also very Sangiovese. But the palate has a little extra weight & dark fruit from the Syrah. Nice

Bit of oxidative tones complement the underlying autolytics nicely. Roasted almond, toasty crackers, dried fruits (apricot, pear) and some bitter melon. Nice creamy body & the acid to support it. Lot of process here, little funky but tasty.

Tasty. Dark fruit, baking spice, touch of earth but generally pretty clean considering the age. Nicely midweight & well integrated. This was my last of 3 bottles & probably could have held on many more years.

Quite nice, if a bit less expressive than the prior bottle. Maybe due to pop & pour? I still enjoyed this. Dark black cherry & raspberry, with some aged earth notes and some oak spice (anise, licorice). Touch of vanilla extract in the mid. Fairly well balanced. I'll drink my last bottle within the next couple years.

Touch of woodsy earth gives way to dark fruit (plum, crushed black cherries) and a bit of dried mint. Nice med+ body & acid with notable tannin. Enough of a plump mid to be ok on is own but then showed especially well with food. In a good spot, will evolve for many more years

Super interesting. Nose is dried florals & orchard fruit, then the med palate adds some oxidative & yeasty tones--almost like a Champagne in the middle, then more crisp orchard & acid on the backend. Went well with a meal of dumplings.

I like it, but was a bit of a tough sell to a large group. Some rubber-y, dirty eraser tones on the nose. It's an earthy, cider-like note that honestly smells like a lot of South African Chenin. A bit of process (yeasty, lees notes) are there alongside dried yellow fruit & melon rind. But the cider topnote is heavy. Medium feel, nice energy & length.
