2019 Carlisle Grenache Rossi Ranch Sonoma Valley

Admittedly, the Rossi Ranch Grenache is not typically in the top tier for Carlisle - at least according to my palate. 2018 was the first vintage that caused me to actually pause and ponder. 2019, however, is absolutely epic. This is honestly the finest Grenache that I have ever experienced from Sonoma County. I would love to have this next to Vieux Telegraphe “La Crau” and Clos des Papes. There’s cherries, white pepper, bay leaf, leather, wet earth and granite. The tannins are of pure silk, as this coats every millimeter of your palate. Very long and the body is medium, yet very broad and deep. On the palate I also get a floral aspect during the finish. Classic and quite enjoyable today, another year would not hurt and then study for another 8 - 10. Even better on day two. Sadly, there are only 225 cases produced. 89% Grenache and 11% Mourvèdre, which were cofermented. Drink 2023 - 2032.

    12/6/21, 6:41 AM - Matt I love this vineyard and of course Carlisle’s take on the fruit. I suggest you look at other producers like Sixteen 600 and Dane Cellars they have some wonderful expressions of Grenache from this vineyard 🍷🍇🍷🍇. Cheers
