10/21/23, 6:24 AM - She likes bold new world wines with lots of fruit and decent octane.

Palatable. Would probably sell if I could get $65 for them.

8/9/21, 4:25 PM - I've found the Cristina and Walker Hill palatable, not special. Can't see how people like these wines. Quite harsh, acidic, marginal fruit, and not better over a decade of aging many varietals. Maybe Pax was an important cog. Who knows.

Still drinking well. Certainly new world but not an overly extracted Aussie wine.

6/27/21, 3:01 PM - Can't answer the question of how much longer this will go, as I don't remember the wine. But you may have given me the inspiration to pop another bottle so I'll give it a shot in my next comment..

Drinking very well. Consumed with Big Dave. Remains quite dense and full-bodied. Lots of sediment, benefits from air. Quite pleasant and fresh nose. Rich purple and deep blue fruit. Teeth-staining finish. Not bashful and doesn't taste like it's 13 years old.

9/23/20, 12:54 PM - Initially decanted about 90 minutes. Consumed over the following 2-3 hours.

Served at a wine tasting because I'm trying to get rid of my bottles. Let breathe for over two hours. Still marginally palatable with not very interesting black fruit and a very green bitter finish. Did seem to be slightly better than a year ago.

Gave it some air and drank over two nights. Better on night two. Inky purple. Full-bodied with a smooth seamless integration of red, blue, and black fruit. Great to pair with food. Above average finish.

7/15/18, 10:35 AM - Would be a little surprised if this wine improved with time. Can certainly go a few more years but not sure it would make it 8-10. That's my guess and I'm not 100% sure how the pro's are able to make an accurate prediction.

Decanted two hours in Maui.
Opaque. Pleasant nose. Ripe full-bodied black and purple fruit. Still with legs. Powerful finish.
Very new world.

The mother-in-law really liked this so I bought six more. Now she doesn't drink it at her daughter won't either. Decant has lasted from 90 minutes to 4 days. Impenetrable. Dusty dry nose but distinctive none the less. Full bodied but light on the tongue with significant dust on the end. Kind of a tongue sticking to the roof of the mouth metallic finish. Not a bad wine but wouldn't have any if I married someone else - and wouldn't miss either.

Not my style and not sure why I keep buying riojas. An old world mid tongue flair with some immature ripe green aftertaste. Tried drinking three days later and actually deteriorated. Maybe I just don't get it.

2/10/16, 8:03 AM - Didn't mean to be flippant and I certainly don't have the palate of Robert Parker. We've tasted both in northern and southern Spain. I really like their Ribera del Duero and Priorat wines. We have a wonderful two and a half year old Landseer named Pingus. Kudos to Spain, but I just don't enjoy Rioja.

Nice wine. Benefits from some air.

    3/31/13, 5:17 AM - Frank,
Have enjoyed your comments in the past. We must share mailing lists as your name crops up frequently. I still enjoy the big red Cali wines, but I enjoy sitting on them longer than most. I think the Gary's vineyard could probably go another four years.
Have not tried the Soberanes but have wasted a lot more money on less promising wines.
