4/22/24, 5:01 PM - I love your note (and this wine :-))
3/4/24, 7:53 AM - Hard to say how it will evolve, but based on this bottle anytime is the right time to open it ;-)
12/8/23, 10:52 AM - This came from Panzer
11/23/23, 9:29 AM - Yes, they came from K&L. I’d say 1/3 of mine has been oxidized / cooked …
10/30/23, 7:53 AM - Thanks. Honestly this is really versatile, it has tons of acidity and some riper/tropical fruit so it will go with almost anything ;)
9/21/23, 7:59 AM - If I had two, I'd open the first one in 2025 :)
7/12/23, 8:30 AM - Gold
6/2/23, 6:10 PM - Did you mean to give it 91? Your description sounds a lot better than that...
5/16/23, 5:25 PM - Would love to!!
4/21/23, 2:38 PM - "WOW" and "Time to search these out..." gives a pretty clear picture IMO
3/20/23, 8:06 AM - Did you intend to mark this as "flawed"?
2/28/23, 5:35 PM - Great note and I agree the 2008 is much more oxidative than other vintages. But unfortunately the days when this sold for 99€ are long, long gone...
2/20/23, 8:01 AM - Sounds pre-moxed to me. 2008 shouldn't have a deep yellow, advanced nose and feel flabby...
1/27/23, 2:55 PM - Great note! Sadly, too many people agree with you (myself included)
12/3/22, 5:01 PM - Hard to say, I would probably check in again in 3 years or so and see how it develops. Pretty sure it can go much longer than that, but I have no experience with these wines/grapes.
10/10/22, 10:08 AM - I usually like Littorai more with age and this was still pretty fresh, so I would say yes.
10/9/22, 5:39 PM - I gave it probably 1.5-2 hours decant and would do the same or slightly longer next time.
9/19/22, 1:13 PM - What makes you think an extra year will make any difference on a 26 year old wine that seems shut down?
9/19/22, 3:04 PM - My point is that one extra year for a wine that is closed today and has been 3 years ago (according to your note) should not be expected to suddenly open up with another year of bottle age. I'd be careful saying "wait another year" when in reality you should probably wait 5-10+ years given your two tasting notes.
6/23/22, 2:57 PM - We decanted at the restaurant and the wine showed well throughout the night, but ideally I'd give it a few hours. It only got better with time in the glass...
1/20/22, 9:19 AM - This wine was decanted for about 3 hours, then filled in small 4oz bottles and tasted the next day. I would give it 2+ hours and then follow the wine over a few hours if that is an option.
1/21/22, 10:16 AM - This was poured for a group during a zoom tasting
1/20/22, 9:18 AM - The one bottle of 15 I opened was undrinkable, but it may have been TCA as well, so likely an off bottle. Still, I'll try again in 5 years or so and then decide what to do with my stash...
11/12/21, 8:49 PM - Excellent note, really captures the wine!
11/12/21, 11:12 AM - I'm also lucky to have 3 bottles, no shame in opening one now. But my other bottles will hopefully rest for a while longer...
10/8/21, 8:57 AM - Better than 13%? Wow!
9/22/21, 1:18 PM - Probably a few hours
9/20/21, 3:17 PM - I decanted it for about an hour and after another hour in the decanter/glass it showed best. I would've given it a bit more time had I planned in advance.
9/15/21, 3:56 PM - Nice note... But 100 points?
6/9/21, 6:39 PM - Thanks, my first experience with your wines and I'm looking forward to trying more :)
5/27/21, 1:56 PM - Did you expect this to decline?
5/4/21, 3:10 PM - Thank you for your note, Tony. Would you drink this now or do you see it improving with age?
5/9/21, 6:53 PM - Thanks, Tony, very helpful!
4/18/21, 3:04 PM - Incorrect score?
4/16/21, 1:48 PM - You can check the "flawed" box when adding the note instead of giving it a low score. That way, it won't change the community rating adversely.
11/22/20, 10:33 AM - It's a $15 wine... I'd be curious what cheaper Montepulcianos you've enjoyed.
10/22/20, 11:35 AM - Hi SRH, do you accompanied in terms of pairing? We had some charcuterie and cheese with it for lunch and it went very well :) The Bandol rosés are pretty easy to pair in my mind, can't think of much that wouldn't go, except maybe for a steak...
6/14/20, 3:07 PM - Thanks for the suggestion! I have come across those wines from time to time. They are indeed good, but I was never blown away...
6/11/20, 1:36 PM - Thanks, and yes, I did. I see the score and like function as two correlated, but somewhat independent items. I can like a 89 point wine if its my style or it may be good value, or I can dislike the wine or its style, yet appreciate its quality (89 being a good, but not great wine). In this case, it's the latter.
6/8/20, 10:40 AM - 100 points?
6/2/20, 3:48 PM - Thanks. Yeah, we had that discussion as well (via Zoom these days ;)). Someone else opened this wine, but I do have a few bottles and don't regret buying them. While it wasn't showing the way I would've expected, the quality is clearly there and like you said, let's hope it sheds some of the fat with time. I'm not giving up :)
4/29/20, 11:08 AM - There's a box you can check that says "flawed", so your low score doesn't affect the rating of the wine...
4/7/20, 8:57 AM - This was an original Polaner import, but I bought it from Panzer
3/26/20, 12:31 PM - This note is not for the Arneis, but for the Castiglione
9/24/19, 2:18 PM - Mine came from WineBid as well, hope yours does better!
9/24/19, 5:03 PM - Yes, was probably the same lot. If your bottle taste like mine after opening (and stays like that), you have nothing to fear :)
8/6/19, 9:22 PM - I just had a very similar experience with my second bottle. The first we had in April was pristine, the second one today disjointed and off balance... Hope my remaining bottles are better and it was just a bad bottle and not a general development...
7/3/19, 11:51 AM - It's not Chave or Allemand and can be drunk on a weekday :)
6/30/19, 7:45 PM - There's an option to check that the wine is flawed instead of rating it ridiculously low...
6/17/19, 8:11 AM - Took quite some digging and fast fingers on the order button...
5/23/19, 10:09 PM - Maybe mark the bottle as flawed instead of giving it a low score?
5/24/19, 8:15 AM - AJ, I appreciate your thoughtful response and I see your point. However, I still think this is not a representative bottle of this particular wine (since as you said you are in the minority) and should therefore be marked as flawed and not rated. Your description and the number of flawed bottles in the database will be warning enough to other users, no need to skew the community rating in my opinion...
4/3/19, 9:19 PM - This is not a Beaujolais...
3/8/19, 5:41 PM - Try Cappellano and Elio Altare (Larigi), both better imho
5/13/17, 9:19 AM - This was from an auction at K&L
