Not impressed with the first bottle of this vintage. Bad bottle?

We are averaging the scores. Day 1, this wine was really fresh. Day 2, it was a brooding monster - almost like a Syrah. Not our flavor profile.

I probably wouldn’t have even bothered to rate this but given the only other rating, I felt the need to speak up. We bought a bottle at the local wine shop after being told that the property sat between Opus and To Kalon. To be fair, the wine shop owner had not tried the wine but was told by the distributor that he should buy the wine because it was much in demand. Since the owner hadn’t tried it, we opened it in the store. The nose was traditional Oakville dust … awesome! The first sip started well but the finish was incredibly short. No worries. - we took the bottle home to watch it unfold as we rarely drink vi takes this young. 4 hours later and the wine is barely drinkable. The nose is no longer dusty and the wine tastes like sour grape juice. Is it the curse of 2020 where the winemaker tried to treat a wine for smoke damage or possibly they weren’t able to manage the fermentation given all the road closures. We are glad this is our only bottle.

I think we drank it too soon/fast. Great structure but need to open.

Our "high" wasn't as high as the last time we had this wine (7/22) but it is still stellar. PNP, no decant. I hazard to guess that most people would struggle to identify the region and varietal. Buying a couple of magnums as we're down to one.

Am I losing my loving feeling for Napa? This was a bit to fruity, a bit to sweet. Say it isn't so...

Once again, disappointed by the Blueline. Good wine but doesn’t merit the price.

Not the right setting to enjoy this bottle - I thought we were going out for a quiet dinner at our favorite local Italian joint but it turned into a surprise party. PNP with a bunch of people (and other wines). Still a wonderful wine - incredibly fragrant!

This wine is the most disappointing wine we have had all year. Maybe too early? The PV dominated and there was no depth. Tastes over 2+ hours. Will try another bottle in 5 years

Tasted side-by-side with the 2007 Mt Veeder. The Howell Mountain started out bolder and richer but the Mt Veeder found its stride about an hour in. Both were delicious wines and well in their drinking window.

Good wine but from a QPR standpoint, very disappointing. It lacked the plushness/opulence we expect in a Harlan.

We have had many Cedarman wines, and a number of 2016 Cedarman wines. This one wasn’t that good, whether bottle variation or just an off time.

Nice wine - still drinking very well with a hefty amount of fruit. However, I don’t think this is our style - not enough grip.
