Obviously a young wine. First bottle of a 6case. Decent bottle, but nothing that wow-ed me.

I really like this wine. Its one of the few wines from South America that I think is really great. Obviously this wine is still too young and will benefit from another 3-5 years in the cellar.

Had to try a bottle. Wine is way too young, but it's a bit difficult to see how this wine will evolve into something truly interesting. alcohol dominates, there is little in backbone i can detect.

like many BdMs of 2015, for me, despite the hype, these are "just ok". Flat. just no wow factor. They are smooth though and hopefully with age will become more interesting, but for now, have tried many, they are all 89-91 points for me, with little true differentiation. strange !

Wow! Love this wine. Needs food though. The wine is nearing the early stages of the drinking window. If you have a few bottles only, let rest in cellar.
Dark, velvety, leaves a dry-ish but pleasant flavor in mouth. classic expression of this grape. The days where i bought this very same wine for $75 seem over. the new vintages cost 2-3x as much.

A very young wine. I loved the 2013 (out of memory, 95/100?).
So I am trying the 2018 baby now.

The nose is not that exciting. the alcohol dominates. The wine itself also appears quite alcoholic; i am drinking this fresh out of the cellar at 55 degrees and notice it. That said, there is a good backbone of fruit and tannis, with an interesting but (for me at least) hard to describe mid pallete. The fruit is very pure and clean. I dont think this one is on track to rival the '13. Will try again in a few years (maybe 3 years out). Has upside potential with age?

deep purple. The fruit is fresh and nice. The nose is a bit flat.
The alcohol in my view overpowers the fruit a little bit. But there is a secondary note I have a hard time describing that is absolutely delicious.
We had the wine with a steak and I enjoyed it. It's not anything truly memorable, but certainly enjoyable. (This was a present from the winery and I must say that was truly a nice gesture).

Modern napa wine. Oak is in background. very young of course. incredible freshness. acidity comes in stronger on back pallet after the sip. some graphite and tobacco notes which i personally like a lot. Less approachable than the 16 Merlot. But i think this will age another 15+ years. Tannins are there, and will build a backbone to age on, but they are not very much in the foreground.

This is concentrated and monolithic, with blackberry and black cherry flavors augmented by tar, tobacco and iron
notes. Offers excellent potential, but needs time to absorb the tannins. Powerful, showing fine length. Best from
2023 through 2040. 1,800 cases made.—B.S

OMG. Brought this wine to a wine tasting with a bunch of other greats (Latour, Mouton, ...) . and LOVED this wine. The nose, the palate, it was right there. I rated the Latour lower initially, although as the night progressed the Latour grew. The Ducru was right there, from the first 30 min post opening. Ordered some more...

I typical CdP with strong liquorish flavors. A well done wine. I must admit, since I had another CdP a few days ago, that I need to be in the mood for CdPs. There is something medicinal about that that I don't like anymore.

An interesting wine. Its an elegant wine. Almost reminds me of a Burgundy. Well done. Nice Balance. Certainly a good value wine.

There is something about the 2 Thoerle wines I now had that I find strange - somehow the alcohol tastes a bit strong and , kind of unique, I can't quite describe it. But I sense it on the nose, and at the end of the sip. It's slightly off-putting. Its very subtle, doesn't impact the experience much.

great acidity. there is an aftertaste, very very subtle, though, that I don't like. I almost don't taste it, but its there. it reminds me of some medicine I can't quite remember.

Drank on 2 occasions. this is #s. Dont really love this wine; too much of a fruit bomb. Despite super high ratings, never really get excited about it. Also, both occasions were blind tastings w other people -- generally people found wine "interesting in a line up to taste" but nobody ever called it great or put it #1.

Somehow I expected more from this, not sure why. Dont quite understand the 94 ratings. It's a fine wine for a mid week dinner. BY THE WAY the wine will do better with some food
The alcohol is not overpowering; the wine is smooth and reminds of better chianti. I just wish is was more complex, expressive.

very smooth. benefits from decanting i.m.v.
not overly complex, just a simple but enjoyable wine. Easy to drink, with or without food. Limited secondary/tertiary notes.
When Garagiste sold these, the word was like "Quilceda Creek". I recently had a QC that scored 100. Putting aside one can debate that rating it was very good and i have to admit more interesting than this one.

This is a wine that needs some food to go with it - maybe some soft cheese.
On a stand alone basis, I find the alcohol dominates a bit and I lack truly interesting structure or nuance. CT ratings more in line with what I think than pro reviews.
