White
Popped and poured, and enjoyed too quickly. Notes of petrol coming through. Will try again in a few years.
Red
2006 Dominus Estate Napa Valley Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Decanted for 2 hours and drank over the next two. Alice and kicking, and not even near its peak, although more so than in 2014. Will try again in 5 years.

1982 Château Sociando-Mallet Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Popped and poured, and drank over 1.5-2 hours. Dark in color and still going strong! Not as strong as the one drank 10 years earlier, but impressive nonetheless.
Red
2014 Château Giscours Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Popped and poured, and drank over one hour. Drinking well now, but certainly could have benefitted from a decant. Will try again soon.

Popped and poured, and it was gone in less than 30 minutes. Tasty and rich.

1998 Joseph Phelps Insignia Napa Valley Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Popped and poured. Getting more soupy with age. Still holding a lot of fruit, but not as enjoyable as in years past.

Consistent with previous notes, but perhaps drinking even better now two years on.

Bought at a restaurant… at cost no less! Perfect bottle and label. Perfection in the glass. I really should have decanted it, but I managed to slow my drinking pace to three hours for this beauty. Should last an eternity, but wonderful now as well.

Popped and poured. A bit too early for this one, and it could have done with a lengthy decant. Lots and lots of stuffing in this one, and it will go the distance.

Popped and poured. Not usually a fan of these due to oak flavor, but time in the bottle softened this, and the rich flavor went well with string cheese and meat. Great value for money.

2009 Essence de Dourthe Bordeaux Supérieur Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Popped and poured, and ate with steak and ox tail over two hours. Tasty blend from a good year. Solid wine for meat and now within the drinking window. Good value for money.

Not rated due to mild corking. Hope to try this one again soon!

Popped and poured, and drank over two hours. Immaculate bottle. Right in the prime of its drinking window. For me it was the right balance of maturity and settled fruits. Right up there with the 96 Ch. Margaux we drank alongside it.
Red
Deeelish! As good or better than the bottle opened two years prior. This thing is still holding strong and would have lasted many more years had I not been impatient to drink it.

2010 Château Fombrauge St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Still going strong. Good value for money.

Always a pleasure. Hitting well now. Great solo or with food. Becoming difficult to find!

Popped and poured, and drank over two hours. Ageless wine and drinking just as well as ever. Will last 20+ more years.

Popped and poured, and drank over one hour. Great bottle and stored well. Drinking just as well, if not better than that last drunk in 2019. Bumping this up two points. Sadly this was my last bottle of five, but a good one on which to finish the run.

1999 Joseph Phelps Insignia Napa Valley Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Popped and poured. Drinking well, but not as well as that last drunk in 2019, which in turn was better than that drunk in 2015. Might be due to bottle variation, but I think it’s best days are behind it. Still really good, however! Drank alongside a pan seared steak. Delish.

So hungover I could not appreciate it

2006 Château La Mission Haut-Brion Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Drank at a steak restaurant. Decanted briefly before drinking over 1.5 hours. Silky and resolved tanins, but will likely improve. Ready from the get go. Would love to try again in 5 years.

Popped and poured at a restaurant. Drinking well at the moment, and not corked like my last bottle of this vintage.

1982 Château Pape Clément Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
At a wine bar. Popped and poured, and gulped down within one hour. Just humming at this point, and great on both the nose and palate. Well kept bottle to be sure, but 1982 continues to show in its wonderful long-lived wines.

At a wine bar. Popped and poured, and drank up within one hour. Still in great shape, and showing much better than other 1973 vintages I have tasted even 5+ years ago. Classic Bordeaux notes and just lovely.
Red
Consistent with prior notes, and this has not aged one bit in two years. Drinking well!

Popped and poured at a restaurant. Still kicking, and could have lasted for several more years had innit decided that this one needed to breathe. Wonderful experience.

1990 Château d'Armailhac Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Popped and poured at a restaurant, and drank immediately. Fully mature old Bordeaux and ready to drink immediately, although some thought it was past its prime.

1973 Château Caillou Sauternes Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend (view label images)
Popped and poured at a restaurant on my 50th. Perhaps some slight oxidation, but the 7 of us drank it up without much fuss. Cool to see just how dark this had gotten over 50 years.
Red
1973 Château Fonbadet Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Popped and poured at a restaurant for my 50th. Beautifully stored, and both the label and bottle contents benefited from it. Really holding up well for its age. Still going strong, and would probably have tasted just as good in 5-10 had I been able to wait.

Drank over one hour after a short decant. As other reviewers have commented, the flavor profile is still muted and flavors are primary. Still a great wine, but it needs more time.

Popped and poured, and drank over one hour. Clearly a very well made wine with a lot going on in the flavor profile. Usually I would be over the moon drinking something like this, but perhaps I was just not myself that night. Hope to try again and reevaluate.

Popped and poured, and drank over two days. Impeccably stored and only 2-3mm of cork seepage. This thing was still primal, but flavorful nonetheless. Cannot believe the cost of this wine now since it was reasonably priced just a few years ago.

Drank over one hour following a short decant. Still very, very good, and will seemingly last for many, many more years without degradation. My favorite of all GPL vintages.

Purchased at restaurant and drank with steaks. Good find amount the slew of many, many more recent voyages on the menu. Even after 16 years, this thing is still quite powerful, but at least the TA IMS have resolved themselves. Well structured and a good complement to the food, but a bit too alcoholic (15.5%) for my liking to drink without food.

Bought at a wine bar. Popped and poured blind for the others. Quite youthful for its age and great structure. Classic Lalande feminine features and silky.

Brought to a restaurant, and drank solo and with steaks. No decant, and this lady was singing from the start. WOTN amongst several standouts including 1989 Ausone and 1989 Pichon Lalande. Amazing fragrant bouquet and silken palate. Classic Bordeaux goodness at its peak.

1989 Château Ausone St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Brought to a restaurant and drank solo and with steaks. Did not decant, and while not closed at first, it certainly opened up two hours. Plenty Yo like here, but perhaps expectations were overly high given the pedigree and price.

BYO at Peter Luger's. My first time having this wine, and it definitely lived up to the hype. Went well with everything we ordered, but especially the steaks. Like other 2001 Bordeaux heavy hitters, this is drinking well right now, but it can certainly hold on another 30+ years. Very well structured and delicious with resolved tannins.
