Strangely sub par bottle. No tca or oxidation but muted ant listless. Strange texture too. Not rated and I'd suggest leaving this a while as it just felt shut down.

7/26/17, 11:38 PM - My gut feeling was shut down too, I buy this wine every year and it is usually a little tight sometimes with a bubblegum character when young then is totally delicious after that. I drank a '12 too showing beautifully. Fingers crossed!

On opening, post shake, this bottle shows a distinct metallic note on the nose. A little time reveals a raspberry led, red fruited nose, some Vosne spice with fine definition. The palate is better again, concentration, power and persistance wrapped in a pure and fresh package. Juicy, tensile, fresh, silky all heading into a mineral and spice led finish. Fabulous Villages, just shake properly and give it time to unfurl.

12/27/16, 10:27 AM - Hi gilrbo, yes exactly that, bottling with high levels CO2 is very common now in many top growers - Fourrier, Cathiard, Barthod, Hudelot Noellat to name but a few - and they need either a long slow ox (probably best!) or a quick 30 second shake to release some CO2. I do something to nearly all young bottles. Interesting point, the reduction often gives the impression of the wine being 'oaky' when it is not oak at all. Once it bloomed the Cathiard was a super bottle :0)
