2/8/24, 1:27 PM - Don’t blame me if you disagree! It did keep improving with time open.
9/9/23, 1:00 AM - The magnums show nothing. It was just on the base of the cork.
9/9/23, 9:15 AM - I uploaded a picture of the label here. No LC listed.
9/9/23, 10:08 AM - Reached out and the magnums stay on lees for longer than the 750s. The actual LC gets painted on the bottom of the bottle. This one is actually a 12. I uploaded the picture.
3/9/23, 3:43 PM - Not really sure on a time line. Given the weight of the fruit and overall density I’d say only a couple years.
3/4/23, 10:57 AM - Probably can’t wait that long. I tend to drink all my Saxum pretty early given how juicy they are.
2/25/23, 10:09 AM - It’s a preference thing for me. I usually prefer the Fingers Crossed Syrah over their Grenache. For Sine Qua Non my preference is the opposite.
1/27/23, 2:47 PM - I leave it in the bottle and pump it with a rubber wine stopper.
9/26/22, 8:38 AM - Pretty much all day in a decanter.
7/6/22, 12:27 PM - The 13 was from a magnum and drank with a few high end Napa winemaker friends. That was the general feeling from all.
7/5/22, 9:24 AM - It was a typo. Fixed it.
6/17/22, 11:05 AM - That’s my guess. Cork was about halfway soaked through also. PS keep up the great work at Vinous. I’m really loving your articles and reviews.
2/24/22, 6:48 PM - Agree that it’s way too early. Unfortunately it’s just not performing as well young as other vintages or it’s peer group. In my opinion it will improve with time but will never be great. At the end of the day who knows how it will resolve.
2/24/22, 5:09 PM - Yes I know but that is what is really coming through both times I’ve had it. It’s undeniable in my opinion.
1/18/22, 11:41 AM - Score is for the first night. Did not update it.
9/19/21, 11:02 AM - It was 2009
9/17/21, 2:51 PM - I don’t believe it was an off bottle since I had a similar impression with Exposition one and two. I have also gone though all the 12 and 13 Expositions and while those are styled differently (considerably more oak and ripeness) they are on the decline. Overall I suppose it’s a matter of preference but I suspect these were all better a few years ago.
8/20/21, 9:05 AM - Scattered Peaks Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
8/20/21, 9:09 AM - 2019 Paco & Lola Albariño Rias Baixas
8/20/21, 10:58 AM - Here is the link showing the score https://www.wine.com/product/scattered-peaks-cabernet-sauvignon-2015/356559https://www.wine.com/product/paco-and-lola-albarino-2019/635680Understand about Decanter and how they score. Not everyone at the Wine Advocate or Vinous dish out high scores it comes down to the reviewer.
8/20/21, 1:14 PM - Noted and you have now convinced me Testamatta 18 is worthy of 100 points.
8/16/21, 6:43 AM - K&L Wine had these on sale via insiders advantage at I believe $95. The release price direct from Realm is $110 so not sure why finding it under $100 would be that surprising.
7/25/21, 9:28 AM - Probably the case. Trying to be optimistic I suppose.
7/17/21, 3:57 PM - Yes it was.
3/25/21, 2:39 PM - Much different than Caymus. Substantially less sweet and with a more gritty texture/tannin.
3/17/21, 6:04 PM - Alcohol content is 15.8%. The 5 looks a lot like a 3.
3/15/21, 7:16 PM - One week but only a days travel here.
2/3/21, 6:31 PM - Sweet as in ripeness and extraction but with a sour patch kid tang to it. Lots of juicy fruit with no other elements to offset it. Likely just needs time to mellow but at $30 it go sacrificed for my lack of storage.
1/18/21, 7:22 AM - It should last a few more years but I would have no hesitation opening a couple now.
12/13/20, 2:02 PM - Yeah quite a few of the 13’s I’ve had recently were just not open regardless of how long the decant was. This one felt different given how juicy it was from the start. Not sure what to make of it other than it won’t last as long or ever have the depth of the Beckstoffer bottles. This was my first experience with this vineyard.
12/5/20, 7:08 PM - I find the Myriad’s usually have a 3 month or so window right after release where the really shine. This time next year it will be muted. For me this has always been the case especially with the Elysian.
11/15/20, 8:26 PM - I think it was just an off bottle or shocked from the delivery 2 weeks ago. Not corked or spoiled but just backwards. Agree that the 18’s are a bit closed but still expected some fruit here even if primal.
10/16/20, 4:15 PM - That is correct
10/11/20, 12:38 PM - I believe I just let it sit in the bottle and never into a decanter.
7/1/20, 5:11 PM - $240
4/2/20, 8:23 AM - No decant here. Opened it up at about 3pm on the first night and drank a few hours later. Pumped half the bottle overnight and performed equally as well night two.
3/13/20, 4:21 PM - No clue likely 2-3 years.
2/2/20, 5:31 AM - Rick- These are big wines made in a similar styles to Rivers Marie, Cirq, Marcassin... They are not attempting to be Burgundy. I am sorry your friends misinformed you about the style and you blindly followed them loading up for 3 releases.
11/13/19, 10:40 AM - Thanks for you feedback...
10/29/19, 3:38 PM - Typo there. It was intended to say Caymus.
9/12/19, 7:04 AM - Got it. Misread the below not.
4/20/19, 1:24 PM - Not yet but did have the 16 Avoyelles last night and it was fantastic.
12/7/18, 12:37 PM - Much more restrained. I would not place this in the ultra ripe category. Still there is plenty of intensity here.
6/6/18, 7:14 PM - Did you join CT today specifically to post a comment calling me a noob?
3/10/18, 12:13 AM - No bottle shock as it doesn’t travel far to get to me. It drank great, just young.
2/26/18, 7:28 PM - Hard to say exactly. I suppose I’ve always found the singular mountain fruit of Lokoya (more recent vintages) to be leaner and more precise. Additionally my memory of them was cooler dark fruit with less noticeable oak which is my preference. Hope that helps.
7/16/17, 1:11 PM - Wine House in Los Angeles.
3/10/17, 11:12 AM - Several Whole Foods locations in Southern CA had it at $59.99.
12/26/16, 8:50 PM - I like both but to me the Scarlett is a little over extracted and hot. It definately improved on the second day but remained syrupy. Agreed the Nickel is tart but I find it more elegant. Definately a preference thing.
9/30/16, 10:55 AM - @Napalover12693 poor use of "quotations". A wine can still be "nothing memorable" but score highly when there is no real distinguishing factors separating it from other 91-92 point wines in this price range.
9/30/16, 12:31 PM - You're welcome
12/20/15, 2:31 PM - 82 points. Lol.
1/10/13, 7:53 AM - Perhaps it was an off bottle or just not my thing. Don't think i'll take tomherer's suggestion to try Yellowtail. Did enough of that in college.
Thanks for letting us know about this problem. We will review your comments and be in touch soon with an update.
