Really like this wine. Had their regular Chianti Classico and bought this Riserva. Tbh it’s a bit less memorable, but still excellent

Like most Greek wine, Burgundian-like because of the higher acidity. Modest nose and tannin but complex palate that opened atter a brief decant.
I'm not saying ir can compete with Burg but I am biased.
  • Aris1a commented:

11/20/21, 9:22 AM - I found that this benefits even more from a really long decant, like 12 hours plus! Sharing this just in case it might be useful. This being said, I just opened my first bottle yesterday, and hence this has been aged for an additional 3 years (properly, in temperature & humidity controlled cellar) since your very helpful note. Cheers!

A Big Mix at Kenwood (The Kenwood, Mpls, MN): Very dark red color. Drank a glass over an hour. Big and dark with cassis, plum, some dank earth, oak, a bit harsh on the palate with some aggressive tannins.
  • Aris1a commented:

12/9/20, 7:56 PM - I think that the harshness that you experienced may have something to do with not decanting, for like a day! This wine needs decanting, badly. I have tested this with 3 bottles so far and this experience has been consistent. The wine got significantly better after a day in the decanter, and even improved further by day 3. It is a bit of a slow ox, but waiting it out is very rewarding. Cheers.

80% of the grapes are from Meursault (limestone soil) and 20% from Volnay. Bright array of flashy citrus fruits and creamy minerals. Refreshing with a touch of reduction and exotic tone. A really good Bourgogne Blanc. (83/100)
  • Aris1a commented:

9/28/20, 7:23 AM - Your score of 83 does not match your comments. Too low a score for what is effectively a positive review.

Dead. Really, REALLY dead. Brown, cloudy and swampy, it had been dead a LONG time.
  • Aris1a commented:

7/15/20, 4:26 PM - You must have had a bad bottle. 3 of mine were all perfect but they came directly from the Chateau.

Not convinced that this deserves the high praises that it has received. Certainly not a great value for the money - much better can be had at this price range and even for significantly less.

Drank over 2 days. Alcohol rather evident. Somewhat tannic, quince paste, sour cherries in the mid palate, some pepper. The finish is very pleasant, long, brooding, with plums, fig jam, and some licorice. Likely to benefit from some aging.
  • Aris1a commented:

5/23/20, 10:53 AM - To Wine G's comment, I think that the Anthill Farms Pinots represent a much better value for the money. Also, Wayfarer's Pinots are another favorite of mine. All these are more rustic than Oregon Pinot Noir, of course, but somehow that is just reflective of my preferences.

FLX TRIP NOTES; 7/4/2019-7/31/2019: earthy, tobacco tones on the nose, brighter cherry and light tart rhubarb on the palate. hint of candied cherry and tangy spice toward the finish. very interesting.

I am hoping this was flawed or defective. Cork was crumbly when opening. Horrid barnyard smell, weird taste
  • Aris1a commented:

4/8/20, 5:59 PM - Looks like you indeed had a bottle with a defective cork. Just opened a bottle this evening (purchased directly from the winery) and this wine is really very nice. Sorry that you had a bad experience with this.

One of the best xinomavros to date, albite from young vines outside the regions of Naoussa and Amyndeon which are the varietie's homelands. Expressive nose of red and dark cherry, violet, sweet spices. Medium-bodied with firm tannins of fine quality, vibrant fruit, balancing acidity and good length.

Newly arrived and had to sample. Oaky nose to begin, this settles with some time in glass and leaves you with flamboyant fruits and a touch of herb. Big tannins and strong acidity, not unexpected at this age. Lots of raspberry and cherry, a little tart at the moment. But it's silky smooth. Complex though each component is raw and individual and a little angular right now. A few years and this will be an amazing wine, especially considering 2014 is regarded as a difficult vintage.

Scent: mild plastic and alcohol nose, not quite German. Flavor: nicely balanced, no mineral taste, medium sweetness.

For the uninitiated, this is a natural wine in all its glory The wine opens with drying tannins and a hint of spritz. This quickly changes with exposure to air. The wine softens and there are notes of red fruits, leather, and earth on both the nose and palate. A very enjoyable pour. However, the wine faded after about five hours.

Bottle was full of sediment. Very disappointing since it has been sitting in a 55 degree environment for 10 years.
  • Aris1a commented:

4/30/17, 3:44 PM - I just shared a bottle from my cellar yesterday evening, with friends. There was indeed a bit of sediment, but beyond that this wine was perfect. Sounds like you had a bad bottle...

Disappointing; it was bland, without much flavor or body, and did not improve on day 2 or day 3. I will probably use the remaining bottles for cooking.
  • Aris1a commented:

4/17/17, 7:57 PM - That was certainly not my experience. Although it is not spectacular, I would give it at least 88 points. Very nicely drinking right now.

Dark red with nearly black core. Plums, blackberries an minerals on the nose. Structured on the palate with lots of fine coarsed tannins. Very fruity with dark overripe fruits, nice minerality and medium length. With more fresh fruit style this could be good. Works well with grilled meat. Quite similar style to the Sagrantino wines. 89
  • Aris1a commented:

1/24/17, 7:38 PM - I concur with your assessment. Read it after I entered my notes, and there are some similarities, though I did not pick up on the minerality that you describe. As I note, I think that the QPR is great, and I consider this wine a kind of a find.

Fine, almost delicate on the nose. White stone fruit, notes of apples, white flowers. On the palate bright and fresh with considerable power and lift. Very mineral, grippy, intense. Very long. An excellent "baby-GG". Great QPR. 90-91+

I'm not sure what wine people have commented about but this wine is not bad, un drinkable, or a fruit bomb.in fact this wine was very enjoyable. I would definitely buy again. Decant for an hour at this point.
  • Aris1a commented:

11/25/16, 6:37 PM - I agree with your assessment - I also enjoyed this wine very much. Enjoyed with guest over a pasta and fish dinner. We found very balanced, well integrated tannins, not overt, with lingering finish of cherry and cassis.

Perhaps had a defective bottle, but wine tasted not quite right - like it was subject to heat. Not what I was expecting from such a reputed producer, not scored. Stewed, heaty, very herby.
  • Aris1a commented:

7/31/16, 8:44 PM - Sounds like you had a bottle that had gone bad. Not at all what I have experience with this wine.
