No comparison to the 2000 tonight. Dense and ponderous fruit is heavy and tired. the older wine is much fresher and easier to drink

6/21/17, 9:31 PM - Beaucastel is a benchmark wine for me. The 1998 first tasted in 2001 was a game changer. Since then I have consumed dozens of bottles from each vintage (98-10). 2007 is different than all other vintages since 98, I don't have much hope for this wine.

This is my third try on a third of fourth. And the there is an off "effervescence". A fizziness that conflicts with the wine. Could three out of four be bad? Or does the effervescent fizziness affect the bottles here. Any observations are appreciated. Oh these are 1.5 liter bottles from Garagiste.

2/2/17, 8:32 PM - I had the exact same experience. Question secondary fermentation. It was very spritz and funky
